With street tires and that amount of torque it's difficult to get a good launch. Compare 100 km/h - 200 km/h and you will see a HUGE diffrence!

Yep unless you plan on running slicks, street tires are not going to offer any amount of traction. Once you get into the sub 5 second 0-60 time its all about the tire compound or if the car is AWD or not.

vodc4: you are still moving a HEAVY HEAVY car and getting traction will be very difficult. Plus, the automagic doesn't help.

Bilal: from what I saw earlier on this board (maybe a month back), they are releasing an SL65 as well.

Either way, this thing will be a torque monster! 70-120 will be devastatingly quick.

Dan, i got this info form the AMG owners club forum, a guy named Roanld runs it, he is da bomb to get info about ANYTHING relating to Mercedes. He only posts real info when it comes to avoid speculation and preserve credibility, if ya know what I mean, true, there will be an SL65 and an S65, you just gotta wait...

Im predicting 0-60 times of 3.9 or less in the SL.

as far as 70-120 is concerned, nothing pulls like a Bi-turbo V12!

0-100kmh in 4.5 sec
This figure is "provisional" according to Mercedes, which probably means that either Mb has not conducted proper testing, and they gave a reserved estimate, or they just want to save some of the 'punch" for later, when the rest of the data will be available.
Let us remember that the new S600 has been consistently tested at 4.5 -4.6 from magazines (0-100kmh) and that is already lower than the 4,8 official claim. So. thinking logically, the CL65 can do it in the 4.2 sec range - meaning that the US 0-60 will be 4.0 secs. The SL should be even faster.

I also see that finally MB had some good sense to upsize the rear tires in width back to normal (275). I wonder if they will increase the same in the SL (295).
