Installed Intercooler Pump....

I just wanted to share this information with fellow members. My 2006 R230 with 27,000 miles had the "case" of heat soak syndrome. I did a little research and decided to go with the latest generation Mercedes pump. The installation was very simple and took me roughly one hour. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask away. Finally I decided to take apart my used pump to find out what the problem was, what I found was quite disturbing and you can check the pictures to see what I mean.

thank you

What you see in the pictures, would be on the dry or "electrical" side of the pump, and yes its cracked in three places. You can feel the magnetic resistance but you can also see the dust from constant grinding of the teeth. Bad design? Or was it my pump alone that failed like that? Has anybody else taken apart their pumps?

Where exactly is the pump located? Is it easy to access? I was thinking about going with the Johnson pump

I removed the passenger wheel, the wheel well lining and the under tray. VERY EASY and this makes the pump swap even easier. I chose the MB pump for ease of installation and peace of mind in case I have to take the car in to the stealership and I know they would frown upon a non MB product.

I have not taken apart my pump. i had it replaced as part of a cooling and power mod through RT. My MB SA says the pumps generally do not fail completely just produce significantly lower flow rates.

Good to see a better pump coming from MB and that you did the job yourself.
