So I'm at the new Mercedes dealer on Canyon today and the kid there tells me that I just missed a bright blue SL55 with a body kit on it.

I'm guessing this thing must be on the road, because there can't possibly be two of you.

lol. i was there today at about 12:30 picking up some trans parts for it! car wasn't there though. they did give an invite and told me to bring the car for their grand opening. going to be tight to have done by next weekend, but they said some real big wigs will be there so i may just put a stupid for sale price on it and see what happens! haha.

I was there at 1:00, so a narrow miss. I thought he said the car was there but I guess you had just told him about it or something. Since it was threatening rain, I thought it would be odd for you to have it out and about.

If you have it at the grand opening, I'll have to come down and check it out.

The car is coming together really well. I'm sure in person you are really appreciating the attention to detail you spent on the countless hrs for fit and finish. I give you a lot of credit for the patience you maintain to complete the job and in dealing with the nonsense posts here. After everything else you did, any idiot could change the taillights in 20 minutes. I'm eager to see your finished product and hope its everything you wanted it to be.

yup, it is digital knights old engine. i have yet to tear it apart, to really see what happened. from pics it just looks like the sc bearing failed and the rotor went into the case. only very small paticles of alum could have made it past the intercooler so i am sure it is still going to be pretty solid.
keeping it as a spare now. you never know what might be coming around the corner though! lol

what i came up with to modify the back a little to give it some more detail. the original misha part just seemed to be missing something. i just cut out the 3 center pieces and installed the same grill material i will be using on rest of car. gives it a little more depth and detail. painted area behind flat black. hard to get the full impact from these pics. imo it looks alot better. rear bumper is not even fastened on, so don't mind the gaps. it aligns up perfect.

they are a *****, atleast they were to figure out how they came off. i cannot remember right now, but they either slide up or down with great amounts of effort. they are plastic, and mount onto a steel plate that then fastens to the rear c pillar pieces.

doing the adv05.1 in 19x10 and 20x13. same wheels in my last few assembled prepaint pics. spacing front wheels out another 3/4" though since i found a matching tire (2 months of searching and got last 2 from toyo werehouse!) a touch smaller and can now bring them out more.
thanks for reminding me my next call to be one to the spacer guy to get them making them!

tires are 275/30/19 and 345/25/20 toyo t1r. the height difference seemed no prob for electronic powers that be upon the test drive. previous fronts were 285/30, so now i will have the exact same tire rollover on rim too. was a big find to get the last 2 275's in the t1r

They are a PITA to get off for sure... the trick is that there is a round tab that is on the outer edge side about half way down so if you can pry it up a little you can get them off a little easier. Also there is a bit of foam tape under them that also makes then a PITA to get off... I ended up buying the new becuse I got pissed & busted the old off on purpose lol. I can get the instructions from the WIS program I have... just PM me your email address so I can send it to you.

I still don't get why AMG put that sad little exhaust manifold on that awesome motor.
