Slower than E39 M5?
Hey mates,
A guy that owns an E39 M5 asked to race with me, I said its ok just to know how much can my SL55 go beyond such an M5. The result was disappointing, that guy was able to beat me with almost a car ahead.
I have bad wheels, and my transmission is leaking oil. However, I don't think that will make that different.. I thought I should beat him with like 5-9 meters difference.
What do you think this would be?
Note: I had injector cleaner in the fuel tank.

Not always but it's safe to assume you need a new one based on your results. There are some much less expensive pumps on the market. The dealer is going to really sock it to you on a replacement pump. Do a search on the forum to find a less expensive alternative.

Don't worry all is normal. My SL55 was stock, and rather disappointing
speed wise. An M5 would beat it, I know one beat me
However you can tune the 55 to about 570 bhp I was told.

No sound8, I just tested my car today, and the workshop said it needs a MAP Sensor, and the transmission needed 4L of transmission fluid, so it was slipping. So the result was normal, however the M5 driver told me yesterday he had a MAP and pulleys, so his car is 450 HP.. yet I can beat him as soon as I replace the MAP sensor, and spark plugs

450hp in a 3900 lb car VS. 500hp in a 4,400 lb car
Stock the M5 runs low 13's in the 1/4. (Modded is probably high 12's)
Stock the SL55 runs mid- high 12's in the 1/4.
The driver could easily make the difference. Small issues with the car could make the difference as well.

I listed the 450hp figure because the poster said the e39 M5 he raced was modded. My buddy had an 00 M5 that tipped the scales at 3950.
I agree the SL should be faster and it DEFINITELY *feels* WAYYYY faster due to the torque difference, but in this particular example, I think the difference could be due to the driver and mods.

no comparison even when an e39 m5 is moded, it will get rapped.
as others have said IC pump needs updating to the newest one. it iwll not show a fault code when they go bad
