2013 SL63 vs 2013 M5
Managed to get both my SL63 and M5 to the track on the same day thanks to a friends help where we raced them head to head. The results were interesting. Though both completely different cars I don't think you could get a better matchup. Both cars are stock with ~1400 miles on them.
It was in the 90s with very high humidity. Short story is the M5 posted the best trap speed of the night at 118.45 with the SL not far behind at 118.21. The SL however got the lowest time with a 11.906 and the M5 hot on its heels at 11.933. Very interesting races.
Instead of reposting everything check this thread.

Doing a "Mexican" highway pull against a new M5 from ~40 was even until 120-ish. Dead even. So I think your results are kosher.

cool.
i would have expected the sl to be a litte quicker, being 2-300 lbs lighter.

The M5 has more power to make up for its weight, 280 lbs heavier on the scale, and the excellent DCT transmission.
The SL has been quicker the week before. See my dragtimes link in sig. However it was silly hot in the 90s this time out and very humid so everything was running slower. The M5 would have been faster the other week too though, but I didn't take it as it wasn't broken in yet. Bottom line is they're very even.

really can feel much more go than stock. A very worthwhile upgrade.
Porsche turbo territory.
