Dallas Raceway 8-9-2013
We'll be at Dallas Raceway this Friday 8-9-2013 around 8:30pm. Come watch as two titans battle it out. My '13 SL63 which last Friday ran 11.7@119 vs my just broken in '13 F10 M5 in its track day debut.

I'll still remain comfortably in the losers bracket if the claims hold true about the M5 being underrated. It will be very interesting though. Maybe I should hold off on returning the GoPro until next week.

For the rears you'd want the 18x9.5 5x112 bolt pattern with 53 offset.
I like the TSW Interlagos.
for the drag radials themselves -- I was looking at Mickey Thompson in 265 width.

He might have better info than me but from what I could dig up:

Get some Mickey Thompson 265/40/18 to throw on there.
The cheapest place I found the TSW wheels were at LSD Morotsports:

The cheapest for the Mickey Thompson tires were at McCormack Racing:

I wont get my interior pieces back anytime soon so no way to turn off the traction control. I
I will probably wait to run again until I get that and the rear tire/wheel setup delivered. Going to see if Dicount Tire will price match and order for me today.
See what's up Friday I would really like to see the cars run again and the M5 in the mix!

The SL had impressive traction on stock Continentals. My runs in it were pre-loaded to 1000rpm and never experienced bogging or loss of traction when rolling into the throttle. Traction control completely off, and in S+ mode yielded my personal best time of the night 11.906 @ 118.19. As JumpimJim points out, I still lost the race...technically. SL is #17

Can't wait to see the videos!
I see the slip and differences but don't understand why the 16 wins. What are the technical reasons for that?

MBWorld Fanatic!
the 16 wins if you take into account the reaction time in a heads up race...
but if they go just by ET... then 17 is faster...
this race must have looked amazing... neck and neck

I was launching off idle. The M5 is a different car to launch and really takes some getting used to. I just started to figure it out at the end. Usually it's all about 60', but in the M5 that's not the case. It's after the 60' that things can go wrong.
You launch great with no spin and no fuss and you think, sweet I can give it more gas. That works fine for a while. Then after the 60' the rear tires break loose and traction control kicks in and cuts throttle and you slow way down even in MDM mode. It feels like you're getting hit by a sudden surge of boost and the back tires start spinning, could be the 1-2 shift as well. Happens so quick, but it happens every time. I found that if you let off the throttle some right as that's about to happen you can at least keep traction control from cutting in so hard. The wheels will still spin a little, but you'll keep going. The difference is running in the mid 12s at 115 vs running in the 11s at 118. When fly2nite was driving the M5 his times were all in the mid 12s and trap speeds low and we thought it might be heat soak. It wasn't though. It's the weird post 60' thing that was getting him. It got me a couple times before I figured out what was going on.

Yes, JumpinJim counts anything that helps him win including reaction time, but moreso the fact they're both his cars. Based on that logic, we determined that in any race where he actually won, it counted as a double win. So out of the 13 races, he won approximately 20 of them.
We started out with me in the SL, but once we switched, I could not get a good grasp of power management in the M5. Considerable traction issues ensured I never won a race behind the wheel in that car.

The M5 posted the highest trap speed of the night of 118.45. The SL was 118.21
SL got the lowest ET of 11.906. M5 was 11.933
It was the kind of races you went into and you didn't know who was going to win because the car didn't make the winner...unless fly2nite was driving the M5 then that was a sure win for the SL.
It was very hot and uncomfortably humid out. The worst night of the year to be racing so far, but it was fun anyway.
