Brabus SV12 Vs RUF R turbo
I have an old friend who is receiving his SV12 in january, there is a modicum of competitiveness between us, he says he'll toast me, I say he aint got a chance,
any ideas folks? You guys are the experts, Im really talking standing start acceleration, autobahn stomping foot down at 120mph that kind of thing, round a track is a no brainer though...
all the best

I guiess we'll have to wait and see. I would assume that the Ruf R Turbo would have a slight advantage; that is if you are very comfortable with driving the Porsche. Your dad is a very lucky man. I read your great writeup on the M5 board. I can truly sense the passion that you have for cars.

Welcome Adam!
I hope you enjoy your stay over here.
Ok, dumb question, what's the brabus SV12? II'm assuming it's a Brabus tuned SL55 with a v12 since we are in the SL55 board...witch V12 is it tho?

Gustav is seriously opinionated when he should be judgemntal with the position he has but that's not the point...
It's a great community there, thanks to yourself and many of the boards frequent posters and loyal fans. I still tune in every day to see what's new and that video of yours, of the RUF doing a 0-190mph sprint is great...extremely fast vehicle your 'old man' has...
Did you ever come over this summer? have any plans to...?
P.S Send me a pm with your msn hotmail address and I'll add you to my buddy list...
Take Care

Ok, a little explanation.
the SL SV 12 is based on the Sl600. the engine is now 6.3L and produces 640 HP with 1026 NM.
the accelerations number are the following:
4.3s for 0-100km/h
13s for 0-200Km/h
Vmax=310 Km/h
So you have some chance with your Ruf, but you haveto take a good start, otherwise it's over.

Is it just me or should a twin turbo V12 make much more power than 640hp/762torque??? I think this has been discussed before, but it sounds like that engine is detuned so as to not sacrifice the other parts in the car. If the Brabus is tuned to more, then either he might beat the RUF or blow up. One thing the Brabus website fails to mention besides "nothing beats displacement except more dispacement" is that nothing beats less weight except less weight. How much does the RUF weigh?

RUF offer different engine treatments, we got the one with the most torque and the second highest bhp.

Wow! Excellent video! Umm, Adam, have you ever broken all four wheels loose? With soooo much torque, i bet you only have to rev it up to 3500RPM.
P.S. Was that you driving?

should get the limit increased to 207mph...
Brabus now offers the SL V12 with a 207mph top speed. Probably special tyres etc..
I'd like to watch the race again with these mods done!

Not a case of top speed, but rather acceleration. When Brabus make the SV12, they modify just the engine to make it produce 640hp, the gearing is kept the same. The standard SL600 gearing will take you to 208mph.
Changing the final axle ratio to gear the car to 200mph only will make it accelerate a lot faster, and also an extra two egars wouldn't go amiss either.
As always, the race has proven you can't have 700hp in a two ton car and expect lighter and jsut as powerful cars to be taken on easily.
