carbon trunk spoiler issues
so I have purchased 2 different spoilers and both of them appear to have a slight fitment issue, they just don't rest totally flat on the trunk lid. Anyone have this issue, and if so is there a cheap fix or do I need to try a different supplier?

Yes I am in the same boat. I have an ART carbon spoiler that doesn't sit flat just like you say... not buying any more until I find someone who can tell me which one fits properly!

mine is also an ART spoiler that I paid a decent amount for and now sits on my work bench in my garage....

I also bought a rear diffuser off them.... don't even go there!!!
Mis-manufactured and despite several emails no replies. I am in the UK so doing anything more is difficult, but when I have more time.....

Not sure what mine is as it was on the car when I got it, but it is a bit loose on 1 end. It fits well actually, and looks great, it's just the sticky tape is failing on the drivers side...

I ordered one from one of the major players (supplies other sites) and the fit was off. It was fiberglass, so there was no chance of bending it. It sat in the sun for a bit, which was recommended, and then pressure applied. One corner was up within minutes, and by the next day, almost 8 inches was peeling. Sent it back, full refund...I ate the return shipping...and reluctantly went to the dealer. Needless to say, it fit perfect, and the finish was so much better. The driver side is separated just a little bit on the upper side, but hasn't moved in over a month. It is not at the edge, so it isn't really a noticeable effect...just that I can push on it, and hear it pop a little. Learned my lesson about aftermarket parts on such a high end vehicle.

I might have spoke out of line.
I ordered a silver. You are probably right about the carbon fiber. I can't find the receipt, but it was over $800 after tax. It was almost 3x the first one, so I had to gamble. The first took about two weeks to get shipped. The OEM was ready at the dealer two days after I paid for it...made in Germany.

The Mercedes parts catalog is a bit frustrating. In order to find the carbon fiber part# you need to know a VIN of a car that it was available as an option. In 2009 there was an exterior carbon fiber trim option in Europe so if you have a Euro VIN you can look it up. Also, in the USA the IWC edition had a carbon fiber rear spoiler. So go to the dealer and give them a VIN for an IWC car and they can find the part# for the carbon fiber rear spoiler (not sure if a 2009 spoiler will fit your 2005 SL600).
I looked up the part# for an IWC car with EPC online. It is 2307900688. I checked out the price at mbzwholesaleparts. MSRP is $4850. I'm guessing that's more than you expected.
