they sauid it had a faulty rod.
i dont know anything about how engines work.
im just really upset.
yes, this is my second sl55 that was a lemon.
im going to get them to take the car back.
im sorry everyone, i tried to stay true to the benz. after the first time i decided to give a second chance, but it doesnt seem to want to pan out.
any ideas on what i should go for now? (outside of mbz)

thats kind of what i was looking at, but its not a convertible.
here is the list of cars i was looking at:
gallardo (my friend owns a lambo dealership, and i can get 1 for 165)
vanquish (beautiful car, perfect sound, the problem its not a convertible, and i cant find one for under 200k)
360 spyder (although the sl55 is faster, i still think its beautiful. the only problem here is availability. i think its definately the most beautiful car out of the bunch)
porsche turbo cab (it looks like every other porsche, and i had a 2000 911 cab already. i could get one tommorrow with everything i would want on it)
any other ideas or comments?

the problem with the 360 is that you cant find a real good one for less than 215 k. i really dont want to spend that much on a car yet. remember im only 23. does anyone know where i can find a car with very low miles on it? maybe a 02 or an 03? i love the 360 ... but i wish my sl would work so i wouldnt have to deal with this

Just a quick question, and feel free not to answer if this is inappropriate, but what do you two do for a living? Im in college at Wake Forest Univ and would love to have some toys like you guys have one day, right now I just enjoy my dads Dinan S2 M5 and my girlfriends mom has a 2001 S55 and an SL55, but one day Id like to be able to purchase some of those things with my own money.

I dont know if you have heard of MB Autowerks or the owner Donnie Drummonds, but he does a lot of mercedes tuning and his shop is about 5 min from my house. His next project is putting a the tiwn turbo amg v12 in a viper, you could always pick that up lol. I just wish hed keep the benz motor in a benz body.

Engines on SL55's do not spontaneously "blow." Even if you were to try to over-rev the engine, the computer would shut the engine down.
If you can show me some photo's of your 2nd blown SL55 I will glady apologize, but otherwise, please spare us.

Sorry to hear about your car, but if I were you, I would get the twin turbo porsche, although I am not a convertible fan, but a porsche is a poersche 
and by the way, you had the Gallardo in your list, I thought you were looking just for convertibles

the only reason i looked at the gallardo was because of my friend who owns the lambo dealership. id be getting it at below msrp. but your right i really do want a convertible.
after long discussion with family last night, its pretty much set in stone that i would get disowned if i buy the ferrari or lambo because its too flashy for me right now, and "what else will i have to look forward to in the future" why do they keep bringing that up....
so anyway, i am most likely going to get the trubo cab.
still a very nice car, i just guess i better drive it first before im set on it.
anyone driven one, or can tell me pros and cons against my s55?
