Brakes Broken!
About 1,000 highway only miles into my new relationship with the 2013 SL63 I bought last week, the passenger rear caliper cover seems to have mysteriously disappeared. Is this a part I can order and have installed or do I need an entire new caliper?

The dealership says I do need a new caliper. Yes my headline was dramatic, but that's what paying a lot of cash for a car only to have it start falling apart four days later evokes. At least from me...

I still don't understand why Mercedes switched the rear brakes to what looks like something from a 90s Ford ...? Probably works just as well but a Single piston slider just doesn't look right on these, shiny red cover or not!

Most car companies don't actually build most of the parts themselves, even things like engine parts will be outsourced to companies that build engine parts, they are just given a spec and deliver a product that (hopefully) meets it. Wiring and computers, most electronics in the car is all built by Bosch, Delphi, etc. Almost all the parts have MB stamps, but aren't built anywhere owned by MB.

Update
I have no clue why the lug nuts were rusted but I bought all new ones from the dealer. As far as the broken caliper cover. I'm still unsure what to do in terms of a new cover. I did find this https://www.ebay.com/itm/272509808276 but think I may just get a new caliper installed to play it safe. I'm irritated that my platinum safeguard warranty does not cover this. If anyone can provide a link to the right cover piece I'd greatly appreciate the assist.
