SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Keyless Go

That seems to be the snafu.

Leaving aside the metal key backup issue, you lose the ability to check the lock status of the car. Only yesterday, I suddenly worried in a restaurant whether I had locked the car. Press the button, green LED. Yikes! The car's unlocked. Out I went, and, sure enough, the car was unlocked. Very useful feature which you guys with only smart keys do not have.

I also asked it in the AMG owners forum that had a previous thread on the subject as well.Until someone tells me otherwise I'm assuming that it's not possible.
I had my first 'experience' with Keyless-Go on the second day I had my car and went to show it to a friend. When I turned off the car that was it, the car was completely not responding to the card. We had to drive in his car to my house to get the regular key. I asked MB and they said that especially around the local airport Keyless-Go failed a lot. Why it was refusing to work at my friends house is not clear to me. Maybe a wireless lan?
BTW, I don't think that it answers your question about the SmartKey vs card key. It simply details procedures for coding a fresh key in the event you lost yours etc. It might be helpful to alert the dealer to the presence of this publication.

Also interesting to see from other documents that if you have the "Electrical Consumers Offline" message which switches off non-essential items, you can close the roof but not open it. If it's pouring with rain, closing the roof moves up the list of priorities...
Also, it would seem that with MOST, the door may be open for some nicer accessories such as DVD Players or the much anticipated Bluetooth!
For grins, look at the MOST bus diagrams for the Maybach. Whoa!
