Who has the fastest car on here?

Traynor is your SL65 the fastest Benz on this forum. If I'm not mistaken I believe your car is the one that ran the 1/4 mile in 11.4 seconds and a mid 3 second sprint to 60. I really wanna see how fast can these Kompressor things go and then see if BMW switches their Naturally Aspirated philosophy and throws in turbochargers in their 500 horsepower V10's.

You mean the fastest reported 1/4 mile time or fastest trap speed?
I think Treynor's S600 ran an 11.59 @ 120 in 1/4 mile but his SL 65 ran an 11.7 @ 126!
Time wise, it is the s600, trap speed wise, its the 65....
I wonder what those Kleemann K3 55's can do it in?

Are the K3 Kleeman 55's supposed to be faster? Also what is the quickest 0-60 launch on here. I'm assuming again that it is Traynor's S600 or his SL65.

Until Treynor's SL65 runs after his upgrades I believe my 11.69 for a stock Mercedes is holding strong.

There is no stock Benz that can run an 11.69 1/4 mile. I don't even think the 65's can. What car do you drive. Is it the SL65?

It is a SL65.

Treynor hosted the video for me a while back here.

And yes a stock SL65 can run 11.69 and even faster with drag radials since traction is the limiting factor.....

Enjoy

My god what the hell did Traynor do to his S600?

To get that car to do an 11.59 second 1/4 mile he must have done something really special.

Hmmm.. if an SL65 can do an 11.69 run stock and that is definetely a more generous number then what is stated in car mags etc... then what in the world could the new F430 do? The F430 I've read is claimed to launch to 60 in 3.5 seconds and do an 11.7 second 1/4 mile. Now that might be a bit slower then what it really does. I wouldn't be surprised if that thing can do an 11.4 or 5 second 1/4 mile.

I know they are obviously different types of cars but why on earth would you blow almost $200K on an SL65. Yes it is fast and yes it is luxury but why not get a Ferrari F430 that is first of all probably faster and second of all looks sooooooo crazy (and people know this isn't your usual car).

Yes you would loose some luxury while your at it but people who buy $200K cars I'm sure have some extra money to get a nice luxury sedan such as the S-class or 7-series.

With this horsepower war going on I wouldn't be surprised if some company either Audi or BMW just decided to make a 700 horsepower stock engine with some ungodly high level of torque.

My oh my this horsepower and speed war will just get more interesting and with Mercedes already making Turbocharged V12's it opens the doors and sets new limits for other companies to reach.

They've already started reaching and it looks like nothing will stop it...

And I thought that my 66 GTO with those "red oval" tires was fast!

11 1/2 second quarter mile in a 4500 lb 4 door sedan? Unreal! Do you realize that back in the 60's you couldn't do 11.59 unless you had slicks and your car was towed to the track! What progress !

True, but think about it........eleven and one half seconds! Just for a relative comparison, this was Pro-Stock time a few years ago. Guys with roll cages and fire extinguishers mounted on their dash boards. Talk about a "sleeper". It's still very impressive.

My SL65 is my daily driver.....

Who is to say I don't have an F430 on order?

MBZFAN55, funny but I was thinking just the same thing a coupel of days ago. I have had a couple of 69 Big Block Camaros and Vettes 63, 67 and I used to think they were monsters....

I do still miss the skill that it took to really drive my DZ 302 Z28 at the limit but that's why I bought a GT3 for the track.

Enjoy!

a few years ago? what 30 years? 11's have been common for slightly modified street driven sports cars since the 80's.

just wondering for you people to own these many expensive cars or in some cases any one of these 180K machines what in the hell do you people do to make all this money?

Or this could be like where half the people are from Florida or California where they would much rather live in a shack and spend all their money on cars then have a nice house.

So just curious what do you people do?

I mean to be able to buy Ferrari's, near $200K cars and in some cases buy $180K cars and mod the living crap out of them there has to be a GOOD amount of money...

Where I live in Southern California a 2500 square foot "shack" runs on average about $1.2MM... though I hear what you're saying. A lot of people driving M3's and living with their parents out here...

But this is the SL55/65 we're talking about...$120-175K. That kind of funk is hard to fake.

There is a member on this board that has a stock E55 that I believe he just put K&N filters on and was running drag radials and he went: 11.85 @ 118 mph

He goes by the name DerekFSU. Pretty fast time for a stock E55 especially when SL65 are running close to those times.

yeah Greenwich,CT isn't cheap either. Yes we do have a Ferrari, Aston Martin, Maserati, Bentley and Rolls-Royce Dealer and also Mercedes and BMW and Audi. But you just don't see too many of the flashy cars but people can afford them if they can afford to live in houses that run over $20 million. A little shack can run for over a million here its ridiculous.

That's funny. My first "in person" view of the SL65 was in Greenwich this past May. There was also an Enzo at the Delamar Hotel, but you're right, I think he was from New York.

Hey Traynor if you don't mind me asking how much did it cost to mod out your S600? Also is that your car on Renntech's homepage cause that is pretty damn cool.

he had the Kleemann Stage 2 (headers and pulley), tune, filters, Drag radials and their LSD. That is far from stock.

Hmm.. Didn't know that.. Thanks for the correction.

Even still, an E55 w/ Kleeman Stage 2 = SL65 performance.. That's not a bad package for a 4door sedan if you ask me.

Ah, no. 118 trap speed on the E55, 123-126 trap speed on the *stock* SL65 --> The SL's still a lot more powerful. The only reason the times are close is the drag radials.

I'll be documenting what happens when you put drag radials and an ECU in an SL65 in a couple months when things in Norcal dry out

Even after I run, the 11.69 will still be the *stock* record After all, I can't claim to be stock when I have an ECU and drag radials on the car...

On the other hand, I suspect I'll be able to run 11.2 - 11.3, which is going to be very fast for ANY street-legal Mercedes.

I hope to make a trip to the strip again in two weeks to take advantage of the colder temps. Last trip it was in the low 70's. We are now in the 40's..... We will see what the results are.....

Treynor,

No doubt. The SL65 is the pinnacle of Mercedes performance (I am on the search for one myself) and if I was a betting man, I would say you will probably be the first one to see 10s.

The only thing I was trying to point out was that there was an E55 running in the same neighbourhood as the SL65 and that's not bad for a 4door.
