Driver window problem with my SLK

Found my first problem and it's annoying. The deal is the driver side window doesn't go up underneath the rubber seal when i roll the window all the way up and then open the dr and close the dr. The window goes over the rubber seal and thus leaves a gap for wind noise and for water to leak in also. However, if i leave the door close and just roll the window all the way up, the window catches rite underneath the seal and it is fine. Has this ever happen to any of you? Unfortunately, the car is no longer under warranty but i will bring it back to MB anyway since a previous claim was made on the driver side wind noise while the warranty is effect.

Window adjustment

I have the same problem. Seems I read somewhere that there are some adjustments from the bottom of the door. If anyone knows the "how to" I would appreciate the input.

Unhappy Same old same old

I've also annoyed by the wind noise from the drivers side. They replaced the seals twice and the regional rep says that the amount of wind noise is normal. I'd love to have it fixed....but...unless someone is aware of a different fix...I'm stuck with this annoyance.

Adjustments??

What are the independents charging $80 for..the adjustment at the bottom of the door?? I'd pay more than that to get rid of the wind noise!

They charge $80USD to adjust the glass since it is about a few mm off toward the back. As for wind noise, i doubt u can get rid of it since it is expected that a convertible will generate way more wind noise that a regular car. I sort of miss the quietness of my lexus now....

I dont have the wind noise problem. The dealership adjusted my window somehow. I am not sure what they did or whether they replaced the rubber seal at the top. Now I hardly get any water in the car (one or two drops) when I spray the car down.

Watch out though. The door is a pain to close cause it ends up so tight. I wind down the window a bit and then shut the door. Sort of like what the BMW coupes do automatically.

Good luck

The CL and CLK also do this. I think the new SL does, too.

They do, even the newer 129's have that feature.

Same Window Problem & Mirrors, Coolant

I have had most of the same problems with my '99 SLK that are listed here. Currently the driver's side window will not lower and has the same problem with not closing completely; this after having the exact same problem on the passenger side. In addition, have had to get the coolant light switch replaced twice and now the silver in the driver's side mirror has become distorted and worn off. Some of these were repaired under warranty; now warranty has expired and I still have things to be fixed. All of them seem to be flaws built into the car and not normal wear and tear, confirmed even more so by this forum. What are the chances that Mercedes will repair at their cost even with warranty expired? My dealer service here is TERRIBLE and I will need all the justification I can get. I've never had any mechanical trouble with the car and love it otherwise.

Well, if your dealer is cool about it (assuming you bought the car from them and service it there all the time), they will help you out under what MB called the "GOOD WILL" guidelines. Basically, it won't cost them a dime if they can justify the reasons for the fix and all they do is charge the bill back to MB corporate. The pt. of good will is to keep you happy as a customer and retain an ongoing business relationship. Just be humble about the issues and see if they would help you out. They don't have to, however, there's always a chance that they will depending upon the nature of the issues and how nice the service gm is. Good luck!

P.S. My slk is at the dealership now being fixed under good will, they even gave me a 02 ML as a loaner since i live 45 mins away. I will let you guys know the result.
