Is it that difficult to find a manual???
Still in the search for a decent SLK 230, and yes...I would prefer a manual over an automatic.
I do miss the feel of shifting, even if it isn't a terribly performance oriented clutch and transmission. Used to have a 6-speed C 230.
But anyways, they're almost impossible to find...especially in a sport package. Am I missing something? When I do find one, it's in some God awful combination of colors. For example, a silver SLK 230...which is fine...but combined with a black and cream two-tone interior. Ugh.
Anyone have suggestions on where else to look aside from Autotrader and Cars.com? Or if necessary, is it terribly expensive to reupholster the interior to one color, say all black?

1984 300D turbo, 2001 320SLK
I just got one here in MD a few weeks ago. 01' Magma Red SLK320 sport package with black interior, however I had been searching for 5-6 years for one. Actually I always wanted a 230, but am really digging the 320.
As for you I just watched on ebay an all black 320 manual in CALIFORNIA go for something ridiculous like $8,000-$10,000 which is insane , or it may be back up. I was just watching them ebay to make sure I got a good deal.

Thanks, I suppose I'll keep looking. I want to stick to a 230 for fuel mileage purposes to be honest. But I thank everyone for the look around. Makes me feel like I have a little bit of hope, at least. :p
8-10K is pretty common. KBB has crashed on these cars something fierce.

If the different in fuel efficiency significant? The 320 is more enjoyable to drive.
Someone recently told me they bought a BMW with an automatic because they couldn't find a manual. If it's becoming hard to even find a BMW with a manual, good luck with just about anything else.

From what I've seen, yeah. There is a considerable difference between the 230 and the 320 in fuel efficiency.
I hope I can find one in a manual. :/

I'll be selling a silver 5 speed next month, but I live in Virginia. I don't think I would buy an auto transmission again unless it's an SUV or truck.

The thought of driving it home is definitely one I consider. I just may hold out for a 6 speed over a 5.
