CD Player?

Anyone have any experience with adding an after-market CD player?

I'm sick of making audio tapes!

I'm thinking head only...I hate to give up the trunk space and the MB changer seems a bit exorbitantly priced...

Thanks!

I recommend getting a headunit that plays mp3/wma. It is cheaper than the factory player, way more functions, and sounds just a bit better...

DickB,

I'm about to install a OEM CD changer in my 320, I liked the way you installed it, so I'm wondering, did you use the standard MB installation bracket? If not how did you keep it in place?

Thanks.

I made my own bracket out of aluminum bar stock. It's a very simple U-shaped bracket, two bends in a vise. Then I drilled holes to match the side of the changer. The bottom of the 'U' runs beneath the changer. I pop riveted an L-shaped aluminum piece onto the bottom of this U, then used sheet metal screws to fasten the L part directly onto the SLK steel channel, through the plastic trunk liner, below the changer. The removable panel covers these screws. Most hardware stores stock this type of aluminum. Costs only a few bucks.

Very nicely done, DickB. If I can't find factory brackets for under $30, I'll go with that plus I get to save some trunk space. Anyone here know the factory part number for '99 up CD changer brackets?

brackets

I think DickB's done such a slick job with this you will probably see a ton of the mounting brackets on ebay due to the number of people performing this mod.
