Top Gear's Survey..
Okay so does anyone know why the SLK did so badly on this survey despite being an improved car? I mean it wasn't even in the top 50!

By the way it came 84th out of 150. And to anyone who hasn't seen the survey...

if it was the 2002-2004 models the answer is easy. That was a thorougly awful rendition of a sports car....sloppy steering, soft brake pedal, numbingly boring to drive. The 2005 is a completely different car.

Personally, I'm happy with mine, so I ain't really bothered what other people think. However, if you get on the benzworld.org, its full of people doing nothing but moan about some aspect of their car.

I wouldn't necessarily generalize that widely. The '05s certainly had a few important issues. But the '06s have been doing fairly well. In my own case, I'm about 5 weeks in and at 2500 miles, with *no* issues... fit and finish, mechanical, electrical, etc are all 5x5.
