...what brand is the lip, anyone knows?

That SLK has a mixture of AMG, Kleemann, and Brabus products.

Carlsson I believe, it has it all.. lol... wheels black or gunmetal would have been perfect.

How does this SLK have 596 Hp (achieved via Kleemann's S8 package)? At a minimum, this SLK still has the stock exhaust. It looks great but is not an S8 (no Kleemann rear diffuser, no Kleemann exhaust, etc).

I think the lip is Kleemann, not Carlsson. As far as exhaust, it doesn't add that much hp anyway and doesn't look nearly as good as the stock one.

lip

its the Kleemann lip ... I have a carlsson lip and it definitely isn't the same. I'm also highly doubtful that this car has nearly 600hp.

Nice looking SLK though!

thanks for the correction.

I don't know how much horses it's got, I copied and paste it from 6speedonline, I thought you guys would enjoy it. Some swedish guy owns it and the car up for sale in Sweden (got this from discipline on benzworld.org) http://www.blocket.se/vi/9056757.htm?ca=15_s

The Kleemann full exhaust provides 35 hp (headers, high flow cats & mufflers).
Its pricey, but it does free up the exhaust significantly. The stock system is very restrictive (its one reason why the CLK55 puts out 7 more Hp with the same powerplant & a slightly better flowing exhaust - its nearly the same - just less bends).

Yes, but the 35hp is mostly from headers. This car probably has headers, high flow cats and a stock muffler. Kleemann muffler is maybe what, 5-10hp max?

P.S. Did you take your SLK to the drag strip yet? What does it run?

We have no idea what this guy has done to his SLK (unless you can read Danish). In any case, yes, the headers provide most of the power increase from the total exhaust system (but the stock cats/muffler won't last long with FI - it will burn the crap out of the stock cat with a blower installed which impacts passing emissions out here in Kalifornia ).

No, I don't drag my cars at the strip (I do track them on occasion at race courses - ones with curves). The SLK is likely a mid/low 11 sec car - pending traction & manually shifting correctly ~ about as quick as a ZO6. On 265 street tires, flooring it at anything below ~60 - 70 mph creates significant wheelspin. From a standstill, DRs are a must or in my opinion, the above ET would just go up in smoke. FWIW, some guy had an SLK S8 & ran a 11.7 sec @ ~120 mph with traction (on 245 DRs) & shifting being a problem. Think they did like 4 passes & the learning curve was tough - lotsa torque. Never heard if they went back.

It would be very interesting to know how fast a Kleemann SLK is on track. In the EVO test, they mentioned that the S8 with just the blower and stock suspension and brakes was only 3 seconds slower than F430 (dont remember the track name). I would think you really need significantly larger rubber for track though, maybe do some custom fender work like they did on the Black Series?

Dan, I've been travelling & working too much lately (on weekends....my company has let some people go & guess who gets their work ). I'm also getting come coilovers for the RX-7 (and battery relocation along with a race legal battery box that must be handcrafted so it fits in the rear seat bin) so Kathryn & I can track both cars. I'm guessing I'll track the cars this Spring after all my car mods are done & track ready.

See ya,
-Matt

~$35k including installation & tax I believe. I opted for rims & tires over the cams as they only add ~ 10 Hp for $4.2k. I almost decided to buy/install them but came to my senses about 2 wks ago & decided to go ski in CO for Xmas instead.. Pretty pricey for 10 Hp (and I can justify just about any power adder )

Without installation in USD
Stage 2 (compressor + ecu) = 12,000
Stage 3 (compressor + ecu + headers) = 15,300
Stage 4 (compressor + ecu + headers + cams ) = 18,800

And produces less Hp (unless you can show me a dynojet producing more than 489 rwhp than my S7)? Maybe you can confirm power & torque for the full Renn pkg?

Adam, I might get your CF hood though but its going to need paint.

LOL, Matt. We're getting too political here!!! Sorry, what i meant is, Renntech SC is also available. Didnt mean it sarcastically. LOL. Renntech is making one CF hood for the SLK lemanns right now.

Ahh, no politics. I think Renntech is likely a better choice for $/Hp than the Kleemann options. I don't really care for one manufacturer "over" another, they each have pros/cons (including Brabus). I'm just curious how much dynojet power the Renn system develops. When it becomes avail ('ala C55 or SLK55 for example), maybe you can share Adam.

Hope you don't think I was trying to be an azz - I ain't like that (I outgrew "mine is better than yours" long ago - its just money & time. All 3 tuners make great products & it's up to each consumer to choose what is "best" for their particular needs. Soooo, I'll check out the other thread about the CF hood. See ya Adam.

-Matt
