Nobody want's to play with me
1944 miles since 20 Nov. on my 55. I'm in a state where the number of mustangs and cameros is only exceded by the number of mullett haircuts. had a perfect oppertunity today Passed a cobra mustang with that goofy paint that looks green or purple from different angles, two miles of three lane highway with ZERO cars in front of us, nothing he just fell about 100 yards behind. 30 min later M3 pulls next to me at a light, I notice he stops behind my right bumper for a sec before he pulls up to the light. Nothing, he just pretends not to notice me. Next I'm behind a Mustang GT he revs before we get on the onramp we pull on the highway we gun to 85 and he just quits????
Do you think people just assume their outgunned when they see this thing?

I'm guessing that the M3 just didn't want to race, because the M3 may have been able to take you. It definitely would have been a drivers race. 0 to 60 for the SLK55 is 4.9 seconds and the M3's is 4.8 seconds. After that I'm not sure, but definitely would have been a drivers race.

Actually, 0-60 mph in an SLK55 is 4.7 seconds (0-62 mph is 4.9 seconds). These are factory numbers, which are usually conservative. Furthermore, the M3 driver will need to shift near perfect to replicate the 4.8 time while the SLK55 probably achieves that performance effortlessly with an automatic.
You are right though, a difference that small will come down to the drivers.
Just my two cents...

I've always had a soft spot for the AMG cars. Maybe the Mustangs and Camaros were scared. Watch out for the newer LS1's they have good topend.

It runs a 0 - 60 of 5.9, but runs a 13.9 1/4 mile. Granted it was a 5 speed car, I still think you would have gotten him. I just wanted to throw out the specs of the Mystic Cobra. Now if you see a new one with the Mystic Paint job watch out 390hp+. I've heard of some of the 03/04 Cobras dynoing at 400hp plus.

My wife had a 1999 Z28, 5 speed manual(330 hp i think) at the same time I had my S2000. My S was easily as fast as the Z, which really suprised me. And the beast I have now is scary faster than my S was. I think (not positive) that given the extra weight the 03/04 cobras carry that the 55 might be as fast or faster, of course I've never driven a Cobra, but If they can completely smoke a SS or a TA, which Im sure the slk55 can, It would be a fun race.

slk 55 published numbers are 4.9 0-100km
but both actually are less than that ...
