Our performance exhaust not only increases hp and torque +15 HP and +24 LB-FT respectively, but unleashes the true sound of hiding underneath the SLS's refined exterior. This creates a deep, rich exhaust note with little or no resonance in the cabin and is civilized enough at art throttle and idle, for everyday, around town driving. Retail $5695.00

RENNtech SLS long tube headers
Designed and engineered in house specifically for the SLS, our long tube headers feature high quality, tri-metal, 200 cell sport catalytic cells and are ceramic coated to reduce heat in the engine compartment as well as combat against thermal stress. The headers are the perfect complement to our sound and performance exhaust and increase performance an additional +20 HP and +20 LB-FT.
Retail: $ 8,200

SLS Carbon Fiber Front Splitter
RENNtech’s one piece front splitter flows seamlessly into the front apron and is a simple, bolt on component which improves vehicle aesthetics and increases front end down force. This piece was designed and engineered in house by RENNtech and is a fully functional component which functions in complete harmony with our complementary rear diffuser. Our final production pieces are manufactured in full, high quality carbon fiber available in either matte or gloss UV protected finishes. Retail: $3,950



Carbon fiber rear diffuser
Our rear diffuser is the companion component to the front splitter and functions to decrease drag and increase down force by improving the underbody airflow and its transition to ambient air. As with the front splitter, our rear diffuser is a quick and easy install that requires no modifications to the SLS’s rear bumper or underbody. Our final production pieces are manufactured in full, high quality carbon fiber available in either matte or gloss UV protected finishes. Retail: $4,495.00

I gotta say what I am sure many are thinking.....
Why are RENNtech parts so expensive? I am not trying to start a war, I honestly am just curious.
I own a RENNtech pulley for my E55 that I purchased used. It is a very solid part, but I don't think I could justify spending the extra money it was when new.

To explain why pricing on some items we sell is higher than others, perhaps the process in which we bring product to market should have a little light shined on it. As stated above, nearly everything we do is designed, rapid prototyped and engineered in house by the talented team of designers and engineers here at RENNtech. This allows us the ability to completely control the manufacturing process of product we stake our reputation on and in turn, ensure that everything we do is up to our (and our customers) most demanding standards.
For example, the above listed SLS carbon components start by under going months of design work, countless revisions, multiple prototype pieces and hours of engineering to ensure the part doesn't just fit, but functions. In addition, these carbon fiber components are done utilizing a pre-preg process, which differs from traditional lower cost wet lay up methods other companies use. I do believe the question as to what exactly this process is has come up in other product posts we have posted on the forum.
Pre-impregnated (pre-preg) fiber method creates stiffer, stronger laminates with controllable, predictable results and the result is a consistent, tight fiber weave which not only looks amazing, but adds strength. To explain this process in short, the fiber is pre-impregnated (hence the name) with resin at a production facility, rolled on spools, and frozen to prevent the resin from curing prematurely. This material is than cut and hand laid into a mold to the proper thickness and cured at strictly controlled temperatures. This process creates a laminate with a precisely controlled resin volume and in turn is 20-30% stiffer and stronger than an equivalent thickness wet laminate process. This ensures our customers receive components which not only look good on the vehicle standing still, but dont crack, warp, fall off or fade when mounted to the exterior of their 200k+ SLS after six months or while driving at high speed.

I would like to start by saying that my post is in no way intended to insult your tuning program or work. That said, I would like to know, do you really think that the tuning program of +65HP from exhaust, Headers, and ECU is really worth near $18,000. I have to be honest, and dont be dissapointed at this, but NO its not. Explain to me, why do I find a 30HP gain of ECU tuning not rough enough when other tuning warehouses are offering 45HP, 50HP, and 67HP.?
I had a A C63 tuned by Renntech. I have to say I was very dissapointed. Other C's tuned by OE, MKB, MHP, and PP-performance, were smoking me like hell (until I changed my Tune ofcourse
). All I kept was the carbon fiber intake that you were offering (which is excellent).I really dont see how your tuning mods for the SLS would compete with other tuners.
.A tune for the SLS from various tuning companies can be performed For a much cheaper price than the one your offering, and can exceed your horsepower range .

How can you convince me?

I agree with your Jacob. Reading things like this always remind me how nice it is to get 80whp from a $480 chip on the 335i. RENNtech is great products...however I would look on the secondary for them...no disrespect to the company but I would never purchase a RENNtech part unless its ebay or craigslist.

but he would normally charge 1200 pounds for an extra 30 bhp same as
Rentech, same engine I suppose. It's sheer greed to charge 3500, people will
just go elsewhere. Sure tuning is an expensive game, but there is always
a choice. Does Rentech's mods affect the cars warranty, my upgrade has
full cover if the engine went bang.

This is really not the right thread for this, since it's a bit of a thread-jacking (sorry, RT - trying to take it outside now), but go back and read your warranty. That document is a contract - this isn't about your opinion or what some salesman told you to get you to pay more for a specific brand of tuner.
I'm sorry to say it, but you're wrong. Go back to my thread, download the MB warranty, and see if there are any exceptions. There aren't. Be safe out there with your tuning,read the tuner's aftermarket warranty (if they have one - RENNtech, Speedriven, MKB, etc. all have strong warranties of their own, separate from Mercedes'), and make your decision. Do NOT make expensive tuning decisions based on the false belief that MBUSA will cover your tuned car if it's from an "approved" source ... whoever is telling you that is either a dreamer or a liar.
