2014 SLS AMG Black Series
HELPPPP :)
Hi everyone. My name is Aditi! I am a confused female looking for some advice so I just signed up for this forum. I own a 2014 SLS AMG black series. I got it just over a year ago now. I am looking into getting the Renntech long tube headers and the ecu upgrade (only because I need this for the headers). I have no desire to increase the horsepower of the car just looking for more sound. I am a little nervous as I have never done a tune before on any of my vehicles. I drive the benz ALOT. Already at 5,000+ miles (which I would say is substantial for a car like this) so I can probably assume (that as I want to keep this car for a long time), I will have close to 50,000 miles before I get rid of it. I guess my question is how the tune and headers will effect my overall longevity and reliability of the car???? FYI - The combined horsepower increase (from the headers and tune) is 46hp.

I would stay away from tunes. The car doesn't need it. Get the Capristio (sp) exhaust. I have heard it and it is awesome. 4 different remote control setting too. Welcome to the forum!

2014 SLS AMG Black Series
I am just checking if this exhaust would fit on a black series. I know there are some differences between the two models. Also, I wouldn't need a tune with this one?

Couple links to check out. Since I haven't been hands on with a BS some others will have to jump in to answer that question. The Capristo is the only one that sounds good. The others just are loud. JeffSD (screen name) has one ... AMAZING!

Hey,
thank you for the interest in the RENNtech Headers.
Yes, our Long Tube Headers also fit on the SLS AMG Black Series.
We have had a few of them in the shop for these same Upgrades you are looking for.
I attached two videos of the SLS AMG equipped with our Tune and Long Tube Headers (one Black Series, one SLS AMG GT Final Edition).
Our Upgrades do not affect the reliability or daily driveability of the Car.
We would be more than happy to discuss this further with you, either over the phone or via E-Mail.
If so, please contact John Bologna of our Sales-Team:

Or send us a private message on here.
Your RENNtech Team.

Is that "Solar Beam Yellow" or something else? Looks a shade different from other pics of SBY that I've seen.

Absolutely love solar beam yellow!! As for the tune, I have a renntech tune on my car and love it. These engines are pretty bulletproof so I wouldn't be that concerned about increasing power marginally. If its just sound you want, you may want to consider having a custom x-pipe made to replace the secondary cats. I'm sure that would give you a nice increase in volume while keeping the AMG bark.

I feel bad for the experience you, OP, got when you posted the same question on the C63 side. The crowd over there can get quite rowdy. Yes, the C63 side has the most traffic, but it's probably better to stay on the SLS side and you can still get your questions answered without all those negative comments.
Keep us posted on what you ultimately decide to put on your SLS. That's an amazing car you have there.
