DFW G-Wagon meet

Cheers!

I've taken mine to Autoscope in Plano, they do good work in general, but work on their own schedule and don't seem to cost much less than the dealer. They also lack communication, so unless you ask constantly they won't necessarily let you know what the repairs are going to cost (the old "we won't know until we get in there, and then we'll forget to tell you we had to fix a whole bunch of other stuff as well" trick). So the bill can mount up quickly if the scope of work isn't pre-defined. And they once charged me a lot of money for a fix, and it didn't actually fix the issue! Had to take it back.
I've also taken mine to Dallas European Auto in Plano, they seems more reasonably priced but in my experience have the opposite problem of they will only do what you tell them to do. In other words, they don't seem to be interested in making sure all of your vehicle is safe and functioning. So they're not going to point out any work that needs to be done, but just do whatever specific repairs you tell them, even if something else that's related to the repairs affects the vehicle as well.
I'd like to find a place that is in the middle of those - sticks to the scope of work, but lets you know what else needs to be done and gives you estimates up front to approve. I'm going to try Autobahn Service Center in Plano next, may need some brake and suspension work soon. It doesn't look like much on the outside (neither really do the others), but gets good reviews.
Good luck!

I've seen an AMG thread about some guys wanting to start up a small Benz group at cars and coffee in March...maybe that's a good way to start up some traction for the G's...?

I'll probably hit Moab and Telluride on the way home. Who else in the DFW area is interested in going?
