Got my W210 E55 this weekend! Observations and Questions.

This weekend I got my 2000 E55 with a mere 99,450 miles on it. It runs and looks great and I love it. I while ago I had a C32 that I never really liked as much as the C43 that it replaced. The C43 just seemed to hit harder when you hit the gas. Now the same it true with the E55. It just goes . . . . no revving up or waiting to shift.

It’s going into the dealer tomorrow for a service and detail and I have a couple of questions for you guys.

1. I think that I hear the fuel pump when I am sitting at idle – concern?

2. Idle is kind-of rough – actually the idle is smooth but there is vibration in the car. Motor Mounts? Or is that just how it is?

3. Wheels are a little curbed up and I probably need new tires – are any other body style’s wheels interchangeable with the W210? But I really do like the stock wheels and don’t mind sticking with them.

4. Clear side markers or euro impact strips? Hmmmm

Thanks

Congrats! Post pics ASAP!

1. You hear the fuel pump? Never heard that one before.
2. Have the motor mounts been replaced before?
3. Just have those stock wheels refinished.
4. Clear side markers or Euro strip try www.evosport.com or www.euroteckmotorsports.com

Pics..... pics..... pics....

2. My car does that also but only when the engine is still cold..... it sounds like something is clogging (like air / fuel filter).... dealer couldn't find anything wrong and no big deal for me.... that thing hasn't gone better or worse for the past 3-4 years.

Questions...

motor mounts may be the culprit on you idle, but if you can, get the history and see if the engine management computer has been replaced. What year is it? Most of the problematic ones seem to be 00 and 01, made all the difference in my cars when they were replaced....yes, most of those fuel pumps are noisy, espeicially when low on fuel. And I have one rear OE AMG wheel that has been freshly refurbed, and looks perfect, that I was about to put on Ebay cheap. Drop me aline if you need it. Hope this helps.

It is a 2000 - I have the records and will check tonight is replacing the engine management computer extremely expensive? or maybe a service campaign?

From an MB dealer's parts department, yes, but

I believe they may be shared with other 55 models. May not be your problem, just helped mine a bunch. In regards to the wheel, they should be sprayed the proper color, which I think is the old MB Astral silver. I gave the refinisher another wheel to match here, so it should be dead on. Looks like it just came out of the box (as a matter of fact, it is in the AMG box). Lemme know if I can help.

I assume if it's the software, it shouldn't impact the car's performance at all, correct? Has not driven other W210 E55 for years.... cannot remember how my car currently performs against other W210's.

Anyone can help? I never asked the dealer to check the software for me and neither party thought about it. Should I? If that's the culprit and could make things worse (not for me so far *knock* *knock*), I'd rather get an aftermarket software.
