Why not just go for overkill....
Mercedes knows they have a large enough buyer segment to create the true 4-door sedan of all times (no price sensitivity).....w/ no question about beating anything BMW/Audi can bring out.
I'm currently driving 2001 S600....love it, like sitting in your favorite living room chair listening to a high end stereo and going 0 to 60 in 5.4 sec....doesn't get much better. Getting the first E55 into my dealer next year with new engine...looking forward to that!!
But, why not just go for it?? Say, E6.3 AMG tweeked even higher than current twin supercharged 6.3....say 740hp w/ 4-matic...so all the power transfers to road. Zero to 60 of say 3.4 sec and 1/4 mile under 10.5 sec...six speed manual...take limiter off and allow 230mph since it will be extremely limited production. Tag it at around $165,000.
Sometimes, ya just got a go for it........

$165,000 would be a bargain by comparison.
In that performance stratum you're in with the Porsche GT2 and the super exotics, but with all the benefits of a sedan.
Since GT2's cost more than that, I'd say you'd want to aim at $200,000 minimum.
Plenty of Bentley and Aston Martin buyers would be interested in the superior performance anyway, though the cache would be diminished by the plain old everyday MB badge.

Yes, ok...I agree...I'd pay $200,000 for a sub 3.5 second zero sixty and 10.2 second 1/4 mile.....AMG E6.3 4matic w/20"/21" staggered stock titanium wheels.....of course it would have to come standard with specially treated leather seat bottoms for when your passengers **** their pants.....

Im gettin all sticky with the thought of it...
Put me down first on the list... after you of course. I would take that one at a heartbeat. I also ordered a new E55 which I am expecting in by April.. I will have to suffice with that till they make this other that you talk of...LOL
