Haven't seen that vid, thanks!

That's the FQ400. Problem is it costs £50k compared to the FQ360 which is £33k.

They featured it in another Top Gear where it couldn't pull away from a Punto or something when both were in top gear as it has such a narrow power band. They reckon the 360 is the better version.

Best Evo ever is the 6.5 imo

Absolutely. For everyday use no but you're quite right about as a track car. Awesome and imagine it in the wet it would dust anything

He says its got 400hp, thats 100hp+ more than stock. Still, the Evo is a truly amazing car. I'm a big fan of it and I'll always be jealous of its performance.

Edit: sorry, by the time I watched the video and made this post there were already 3 replies lol.

I second that, but I'm biased!

Tunability-wise, the 8 & 9s are just in a different league though

I agree!
there is this very exclusive video, i wont promise but if i get my hands on it i will try to post it here. It a heavily modded evo 9 in Dubai with the HKS protype mivec cams and blah blah. Anyways, the cars that it raced and RAPED were the new murci lp640, the slr maclaren and numerous 997Ts.
The car was instantly bought by some royalty for $180,000

I will try to get it for u guys.

I am thinking about getting an EVO 8 or 9 or a WRX STi if I ever get time to get back into autocrossing. If for nothing else, I'd just keep it and run crazy on the mods. Kinda make it a Frankenstein-car. Thought about giving it to my 13 year old boy in a few years when he's old enough to drive, but he may end up killing himself with it. I think it will be a 5 year old Turdcel with 2 missing plugs for him

having one previously @ 550whp+, when the turbo spools and hits, it's a feeling like no other.....best way to describe these pulls would be violent. Even scares me in 3rd gear. Cool thing is constant traction.

Of course they are. At your nearest Mitsu dealer! Invest 2500.00 to 5k and you'll have a real monster of a car for the streets.

wow !

this is gonna sound rude but i dont mean it too

but where have you been ?

the evo is a rally legend and has featured in films and won many awards.

incredible cars still light and nimble but with a cleaver active yaw control system that control all 4 wheels separately.

See --phill-- like mche55 says... I drive mercedes, and don't know much about these imports from Japan. Plus, I can almost bet you that you won't find a car like this in Portland, Maine.

I'm not going to sit here and defend a japanese car on a mercedes forum because it'll prove futile. But I can guarantee to the more open minded audience, you can agree the evo is a driver's car. Benz's more or less drive themselves with little driver interaction. And in reference to them being slow as *****, recent power achievements of making around 1100whp speaks for itself....these motors are built solid and proven through out time....to me that's quite a feat for a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder built motor to put out that much power. And other than the fact the turning radius is kinda shotty, driving an awd car and being able to stay on the gas while tightly huggin turns on the track is reason enough to get the car. Not to mention it educates you overall about cars because when you get into real mods, a lot of work you have to get directly involved and you actually learn about car mechanics and hands on experience in tuning. A very fun experience overall.

Oh give me a break, so what an EVO beat murcie's and 997TT's? What does the new 997TT run? High 11's at best.. same for the new Murcie. They are not that fast period. Any twin-turbo corvette, viper, or even supra will beat them. I don't believe that someone would spent 180,000$ on an EVO because it will only take maybe 20,000$ in mods to run 11's and beat most exotic cars.

Here is the full version of the EVO VIII vs Lambo where they go into details about the drawbacks of the EVO (think they went sarcastic with the turbo lag)
