Guy, I'm getting alots of wheel hops when I take off hard. My tires spen alot seen like no traction at all and the rear wheel hop as if take off. Especially when the road is wet. Is this normal or is something wrong here?

thanks

you're just feeling ESP kick in, your tires might be too bald? or you're stepping on the gas too hard while it's wet, and you're losing a little traction, your ESP kicks in by applying the rear brakes on the wheels therefore you feel a hop, which in fact it's rear brakes being applied on and off.
if you don't want to feel this "hop" just ease on the throttle a little, be more gentle, with more finesse while driving in rain
or just turn the ******* off and do some doughnuts

don't worry no one installed Impala 64 switches on your rear hahah

Are your tires new??? If not then you might want to check them for cupping. That's where the tread is different heights causing tires to hop. Also, make sure they're properly balanced because that could also be a cause.

or............ it could be infact what your saying (wheel hop) or as its called axel tramp.... my car suffer's from this at times... depending on grip level of surface.

the only thing to do is back off - DO NOT KEEP IT PLANTED AS IT MAY DESTROY YOUR DIFF!!!!!!

this happened alot in my sierra cosworth that was running 410bhp.... it did it a few times and everytime i thought nuts to it and kept my foot down!!!! BANG - BLEW THE PLANET AND SUN GEARS IN DIFF.

i have only had it happen a few times in the e55..... luckily

just be carefull....

or it may not be this..... and it may be what the other guys have said

SO just to be clear...wheel hop is when the wheel spins, then catches or makes contact, then spins again and so and so on while you feel the car jerking forward?

Doesn't this normally happen during a hard acceleration? If not, a strong launch with wheel spin and then contact (no more wheel spin after first time) and acceleration is then ok?

That exactly what happen but i don't think this is normal because this is the first i noticed it.

This is what I'm thinking what is happening correct me if i'm wrong.
Since i lighten the rear out by removing the useless spare tire and the new wheel is lighter by 5lb each and Half tank of fuel no passenger this make the rear lighter so on hard ecceleration there nothing planting the rear down so it hops around til the weight shift to the rear and planted the weight down on the tire than it stop hopping and take off. That my theory

the other one is that I have a bad rear shocks

Both very possible but check your shocks first...

I think it is just the spin and grip. Happens to me to. Also happened in other cars as well. My buddies front wheel drive Honda CRX back in the 80's used to hop all over and his change would come falling out of the ashtray.

Rule of thumb, if it feels bad, it probably is bad, so lay off the gas and take it smooth.
