gonna get headers...I have a few questions....
I am buying a set of headers for my e55 and was wondering whos header makes the most outright power.......I dont care how loud or legal the setup is so my next question is if I bolt on a set of the long tubes without the primary cats will I get a CEL code being that I do not have secondaries either......and is there tunig to omit the O2's all togather......and would a no cat, res system make huge gains or just noise....I would even be willing to go custom headers if there is someone willing to make em.....

No long tube headers are "bolt-on" they all require welding and custom modification so keep that in mind. If you do not have primaries you will get a CEL light, but since you say you have software then it might be ok. However, at stop lights your car will smell bad and the fumes will be pretty toxic. Furthermore, from an ethical environmental standpoint, its not good to remove all your cats. If you already have secondaries deleted then a good set of shorties would give you nearly the same results. If you delete all your cats you may actually hurt parts of your torque band due to loss of back pressure so keep that in mind as well.

If you already have deleted the secondary cats, I would leave the primaries and do short tube headers. You could do short tubes now (bolt on) and then down the road replace your primaries with high flow cats when they start to go bad. And yes, you'll get a CEL when you remove the primaries, regardless of whether you have secondaries or not. The sensor is located between the primaries and secondaries, so it only checks if the primaries are working or not. Typically, the difference between a single cat (especially high flow) and no cat at all is only a few HP, i.e. not enough that you can notice or measure. Having the primaries in place isn't going to hurt you.

Maybe yes maybe not! how many O2's sensors have your car? if you have 4 sensors Yes you have a CEL, if you have only 2 sensors Not made difference.. if you want go GREEN with the earth! leave your primarys

Glad to have you on board E55 addict .
Be sure to take some videos of the car once done. If you haven't done high flow 2nd cats & crank pulley I recommend those as well in conjunction with the headers. They will significantly improve performance and work very well in conjunction with the headers.

I did not opt for the pulley........already have no 2ndary cats.....and
I will take before during and after pics as well as dyno runs....let see how they do shall we....I am installing myself so I will be able to show everything first hand

Should sound good with no 2nd cats . Install should be relatively simple, You may have to take out the plug wires & coils to have better access down there on the drivers side (it can be a bit tight). Do you have a lift? It is more difficult to install without a lift (although not impossible). If you have any technical questions feel free to email us at any time.

The headers have arrived.....
well got home from work today and there were my headers on the stoop....my initial impression are that they are very heavy duty....oem like in quality......thick flanges and tubing.....they are pretty small as far as I am used to(the last set of headers I did were B&B 1 3/4 in longtubes on a Dodge Viper) but they definitely look like they will work well.....and fit well.....I will keep everyone informed during the install

Looks so easy to install even a Nutless Monkey can do it

Hello E55 addict,
We are glad you are satisfied with the quality. They are built to withstand pretty much anything you can throw at them and last the life of the vehicle, so only top quality thick materials are used to ensure they meet the demands of these AMG engines.
The headers are 1.75" OD (not 1.75" ID). If the header primaries were any larger you would start to harm torque. Remember, the stock exhaust ports are only 1.5" at the heads so you can only go so big. These are made for the optimal size for our cars and you cannot really go any bigger without starting to harm back pressure. They sure are an upgrade over the stock 1.4" primaries that's for sure
Look forward to hearing your impressions . Shoot us an email if you need anything. Thanks

Glad you like them. Told you that you wouldn't be disappointed. Remember ECU takes about 1 week to fully adapt so the sound & power should improve a bit more up to that point as well.
