I NEED HELP ASAP!!!
I bought a set of updated Euro tail lights. After I installed the passenger side I gave it a test. The signals worked on both sides, aswell as the reverse lights. Even when I turned on the headlights, the rear lights worked also.
Then I ask my brother to step on the brake. Both Driver's side and middle light bar light up. Nothing on the newly installed light. So I removed the bulb and replaced. Asked him to try again. NOW, no brake lights work. Everything else works fine. Just brakes. I get a CEL stating: LIGHT BULB/BAS/ESP/ Then ABS something something!
I checked every single fuse. All good. I even replaced the bulbs.
WHAT DID I DO WRONG??!??? WHAT BLEW, A FUSE, ETC?
Grrrr..
PLEASE HEEEELP!!

I would unplug the battery and wait (I'm assuming you have your radio code). Remove the new lights. Install your stock lights, reconnect the battery, and see if they work now. You'll need to resync your windows and turn your steering wheel lock to lock to reset the BAS/ABS lights. See if that works.

something funky is definitely going on he shouldn't recieve bas\asp light warnings by changing the tail lights. definitely reverse your steps and put back the original ones to see if you still get the warning but now you may have to disconnect your battery before putting the regular ones back on to reset your bas\asp warning. unless you have a obd II scanner to reset yourself without dis connecting the battery.
I'm willing to bet its your aftermarket rice burner Japan tail lights lol
I have a OBD II scanner if you want to come by. I can take a crack at it
I get off at 6
let me know ...

I've seen reports before of bad brake system components (brake switch) triggering the BAS warnings. It's a break system failure, after all. If you switch your stock lights into a new housing, I don't see an issue. But replacing the entire light, including electronics, I can see how you get a CEL.

Thanks for the input. I got them working. It was the fuse, and I had to play with the bulb sockets a bit. Apparently our W210's have a THIRD fuse box inside the car, to the left of the steering wheel. I did not know this. WTF! haha
Special thanks to my bro Armani. I couldn't have figured it out without you man!!

...same thing happend to me. Remember - you have a PREfacelift Eclass, the new tails I'm assuming are 00-02. I too wasn't aware of the 3rd fuse box when you open the door, but what you need to know is 96-99 tails use a different socket for the brake lights, I too blew a fuse and it was one there in the **** pit fuse box, but instead of jiggling the wrong socket so it fits just right, just go to the dealer and get two (white) sockets for the 00-02 tails. Happy Trails.

Cool, glad I was of some help - I drove around for a week or so like that..... LAMP DEFECTIVE = FUSTERATION. The parts guy at the dealer will know what what you need (they may be listed as white or "natural" but they are break sockets for 00-02 W210) GOOD MOD/mandatory for pre-facelift W210s (IMO of course) lol
