Are there any fees or conversions required? Will the warranty still be valid? It seems that there is a 10% savings that might be possible.

I looked into this back in '99 for the W210 AMG... went to Vancouver BC MB dealership, but was told I would not be able to bring it across the border to the U.S. since I was a U.S. citizen. They said a Canadian citizen would have to purchase the vehicle, bring it across the border, then sell it to me... not sure if this is true, though. I ended up buying in the U.S.

There was a news review recently. People that purchased their cars from Canada could not get their cars service or fixed under warranty by dealers because the cars are consider "Gray market". They may also have trouble selling them because the VIN numbers do not state US cars.

I'm pretty sure there's no conversion, but I think it's illegal. When I went to the Lexus Dealer about a year ago they talked about how Americans would call to buy a car but they couldn't sell it to them. Cars are cheaper here even without the dollar conversion rates so I think the U.S gov't made a law to keep business in the states.

I recently read an article about these "gray market" cars that are bought in Canada and sold in the US as pre-driven. The problem is that the car makers lose money on the deal. Cars in Canada (they used Chrysler minivans as an example) are sold for less because the household incomes are less in Canada. The car makers would lose on two fronts: first on the original sale and then on the warranty. The article said that the car makers were thinking of voiding the warranty on these cars to discourage the practice.
