I want the E55 look, help me do it the cheapest

Hi everyone I'm a long time lurker who last week got in an accident in my 1996 E300 Diesel. When I was looking to buy my car, before I did I almost bought one, (I cant remember now but it was either a 97 or 98) that was diesel, and the seller had the whole AMG look to it.

Today when I recieved a $1400 check to repair my car, I went looking for an amg bumper.

My questions are........can a 1999 E55 AMG front bumper mount/fit on my 1996 E300D??

Looking at more pictures, it looks like the front fenders might be different on a AMG model than on my E300.

Is this possbile to do? Help - Kyle D in the home of the blues Joliet, IL

Yes, the e55 bumper will fit on. The front fenders are only rolled more on the E55 to accommodate the wider wheels.

Up to 1999 I " think " the AMG bumper should fit , but you have to also remember that the bumper will meet the fenders and blend in.. thats where you have to make sure... best bet is to go to a junk yard and try to dry fit things yourself.. although a decent body shop will make anything fit properly.
AMG bumpers from a 1999 wont be easy to come by though, forget the ones from '00 and above .. these wont fit around the headlights .

2013 E63 AMG
Back a few years ago AMG made a Diesel MB for one year. I had a 1983 300SD that I transformed into an AMG all the way down to the racing leather seats. I found most of the parts around the world on Ebay. Great idea with the sport look and MPG.

On the bumpers they should work up until 99 very hard to find they did have a model in 97, but I've only seen them in Japan for the whole car not the parts alone. Have fun........

You will probably need to replace the fog lights, too, as they're a different size.

Interesting concept, FYI, on one of my last trips, I averaged 25.3MPG at 70-80MPH in my E55. I was sort of able to convince my wife that we drove an economy car.

I'd hate to think of how much it would run, including time, to do the AMG trim kit on the diesel. Good luck though. Let us know how it comes out.

Cheers !

^^25 is really good for a car like that! It just goes to show how great of a design this car has, & its low drag efficient/resistance saves fuel on a long trip.

I've been looking kinda hard on ebay, chicago craig, even wisconsin & st. louis craig. I still haven't found what I would need I think. I'm in no real hurry to repair my car, but I kinda wanted to replace my RF fender because it has a 4 inch cancer spot that I couldn't stop. If anybody has suggestions I would really appreash.

2007 SL55 AMG
there are always aftermarket fenders for cheaper. The fitment isnt exactly OEM but its not even close to bad looking.

Nothing about these cars is cheap. Even if you locate these parts, I'm not sure being a broke college dude will help.

Good Luck
