New Here and New to MB Ownership
My name is Andrew and I am from Columbus Ohio. I just recently picked up an 02' E55 AMG. I was never an MB fan... Thought they were always good looking cars, but just never thought of owning one. I did not think it was my cup of tee, until I drove this car. I have been hooked ever since. I look forward to tapping all of your knowledge. I do have plans to do an X-pipe/resonator delete/ 2nd cat delete, carbon fiber intake (if i can find one at a decent price) and get the log style headers ported to match the runners. This car came with a bumper to bumper warranty that runs out in 2016. The warranty is not a true bumper to bumper...has exclusionary items, but very small list.
The story with the car is a Dr. bought this in 02. Supposedly when MB said they were not going to make AMG anymore. Dr. thought it was going to be a collectors item. Bought for 83k!! I have a huge file folder with every single visit to MB (always serviced by the stealership) or any other shop (tires or whatever). I have the original sales receipt also. Make a long story short...AMG still produced. He dumped car at 13k miles to a friend of mine who drove it to 30k miles and sold to me for 16k with all the goodies. Car has been claybar/waxed 3 times a year since purchase. Sat in garage under cover for months at a time even when friend owned. Car is fully loaded with every option they had available at the time. Disk changer sucks (carosel (sp?)stuck in changer at the moment). Headliner is peeling bad, but I am getting it re-wrapped in charcoal suede on 8/6. Enough about me...
Want to get the X-pipe, deletes, headers etc done, but no one in Cbus to do it with confidence...
02' E55 30k miles
Came with 3 sets of wheels (S500 AMG wheels staggered offset 245 front/275 rear - not 100% on the wheels...you will have to tell me what they came on factory as i am not confident in what i remember him telling me they were), snow tires on OZ wheels (doubt this will see snow) and the original factory wheels. Rhino lined the wheel wells and car is completely rust free. Braided brake lines were added when the wells were lined.

Pic of the wheels with wheel wells rhino lined

Interior is cleaner than any used car i have seen...not scuffs, cracks in leather, cracks in dash, smudges..nothing.

Headliner is peeling away...getting a new headliner installed 8/6

I do have a new hood emblem and new trunk emblem from JBSpeed (Thanks Brian) and will post pics when installed

Low lights are factory HID and the days/fogs are LED's with capacitors to not trip the failure light

original mats in perfect condition

pic of the snow wheels (didnt add original wheels pic since you have seen one you have seen them all...although very clean)

Love her...

I would change out the rims in the pics STAT. The original monos look GREAT on the W210.
With the right mods you will be knocking on 400 HP's door (N/A)
And yes, change the wheels to stock asap. The pictured wheels are from a R230 SL500, I think mostly used in 04-05, "starfish" wheels, which don't look quite right on the W210.

I used cloth glue for a similar sagging roof liner on my C230 and it worked great. Went on wet and nasty, so I was really worried, but it dried flat and looked great. Did the same on my wife's ML320 on the front pillar and it didn't work as well, but is better than before.
Was the car garaged? My experience has been that cars (MB and others) that are exposed to hot sun during the summer months often have this issue with the roof liner.
If you've got the records and know the background, you're probably in great shape.

Sell the SL wheels to some VW moron looking to "stance" (read: completely ****up) his POS
You're very lucky to have 3 sets of wheels. There is no such thing as too many wheels. I'm always running out around here. You'd think eventually my wheel:car ratio would improve... keep dreaming I suppose. Lol.
and work your way from there.....
