722.643 has a totaly different electro-hydraulic-controlunit, different ECU Software, different torque converter and so on... making a 722.636 like a 722.643 is really wasted time, search for a 722.643 and sell your 722.636 is the only way to do this right.
722.636 shifts faster with a EGS52 Control Unit and Code 030 "Amg Version" coded to it ... but dont wait for a miracle ... its still a 15 year old Transmission

I should prob already have this since my car is an amg? is it not default?
I agree, might just be easier just to buy newer trans. To be honest was thinking of getting an aftermarket torque converter (offered on c32/c55 page) and getting new TCU flash for blue tops and M mode.... thanks again for all info, I have lot to learn

i dont see the advantage in a 722.636 with M-Mode, the transmission is too slow to have fun with m-mode. I recently drove a W211 E58 Väth with 620hp and Transmission optimization from väth for the stock 722.643. It shifts like a steam locomotive compared to a modern ICE Highspeed Train. It was horrible. The owner of the Väth E58K drove my W210 E55 with the modified 722.643 and decided to do this modification as well because he is really pissed by the stock M-Mode of the w211, he never uses it.
get a 722.643, modified TCU with CLK-DTM/SLR Software, blue solenoids and youŽll be happy, anything else is wasted money (and time)

i helped a user from england in this forum, as far as i remember his username is "amg4.3" or something like that, with a conversion W202 C43 ME2.0 to C55 ME2.8 ... after almost 1 year everything works fine now i think.
it IS possible but A LOT OF WORK!

As Fabian has said it is a very big job it has almost taken a year to complete as i dont think anyone has ever done an ME2.8 conversion on W202. I have an E55 engine with 722.643 speedshift gearbox with ME2.8 and EGS52 fully working.

Nope, it is from a friend of mine ... was a E430 too 3 weeks ago
It is a normal E55.
The one from my parents is a S210 E55 4matic. As i recently found out ... it is one of the original 15(!) S210 E55 4matic build by AMG in Afalterbach

Hi Fabian
You've have done great things to your car, you turned it to an Autobahn Mörder.
Do you eat many hotrod Audi/Bmw's for breakfast?
Do you know how much €€€ you spent on this project?
Do you keep track of all reciepts and costs?
Your expertise in AMG modification is highly appreciated when I read this project thread.
I am looking for an W210 E55AMG 5.4 litre engine for my C43 AMG.
My car is manufactured late 1998 as a 1999 model with facelift HIFI deck and fibre optics for cd changer.
I believe my car is the ME2.0 EGS51 version.
Which engine YEAR do you recommend as a donor engine for my car when I do the 5.4 liter modifiaction?
Should I stay with build year 1998-1999 pre TIPTRONIC cars?
The last year W210 E55 AMG cars had uprated engines for the better performance.
Would a model year 2001 - 2002 engine with ME2.8/EGS52 work on my 1999 car if I keep my stock ME2.0/EGS51 setup with this 5.4L engine?
I'm worried if I buy the wrong engine year because it had the tiptronic transmission fitted and updated electronics with ME2.8/EGS52, therefore this engine might not get married with my electronics ME2.0/EGS51 version and because of that car can not be able to get started to drive??
I apprechiate your help
Thanks
Dennis

me neither, only on explicit customer wish ... rumors tell they made 15 of it. But there are several 4matic mods made by other companys. Until a few weeks ago i tought the 4matic from my parents where build by "Kicherer" in Stockach. But i had a telephonecall with AMG and asked several other thing ... AND gave them the VIN from the 4matic to check. They told me that this car was originaly NEW delivered to AMG in Afalterbach and was rebuild to a E55 there. In the Datacard also the correct 5.5L AMG Engine Number is noted and in the list you find "030 - M113 5.5L AMG Engine" as code.

Hey Denis,
what engine you take doesent matter, the engine is the same all the way. Only the ME2.8 Engines have a secoundary air pump but that can be removed.
easiest way would be to stay with ME2.0, take a E55 Engine and let your original ME2.0 modify to work with 5.5L displacement then 4.3L. this would be plug n play.
Hardest way would be to do it like ali. Full mod to ME2.8 with EGS52, TipTronic, Speedshift Transmission ... that is everything but NOT plug n play
If you like the hard way ... send "amg4.3" a PM ... we had communication over 1 year until his car now finaly drive ... he could tell you a little about the problems converting from ME2.0 to ME2.8.
greetings, Fabian

Thanks for your quick reply.
When you say: easiest way would be to stay with ME2.0, take a E55 Engine and let your original ME2.0 modify to work with 5.5L displacement then 4.3L. this would be plug n play.
Do you mean when I install the 55engine in the car and let the ECU adapt to new engine during driving, this is just plug n play and nothing else?
If I find a model year 2001 engine this is no problem for my car if I use my stock electronics, wireloom, drosselklappe
I will only do a simple engine change no other modifiactions to my transmission.
I will keep the ME2.0/EGS51 electronics as it is from stock.
Thanks

Nope, youŽll need to send the ECU to a tuner who could modify it with AMG 5.5L Software ... the car would drive with the original ECU Software but i dont think the software could adapt 1.2L MORE displacement.

during driving the software adapted to new engine and no other mods were made?
Is this not correct to do this way?
As I live in Schweden, I don't know who does these ecu re-flashings?

that IS correct. The Software has a self adaption. Dont know where to look for it on the ME2.0 but on the ME2.8 you can see exactly what values the self adaption uses. But it is not endless and 30% more displacement means a lot more fuel to use... i guess the self adaption would be on its limits then, that would be no option for me.
I use a modified CLK-DTM Software, the CLK-DTM has the same injectors as the M113K but now i use SLR Injectors with a higher flowrate. my self adapt values went from nearly 1 to 0.8.

one more thing:
The M113 5.5L in the car from my parents has the 4.3 injectors installed ... dont ask me why. Under full load i have a error in the ME that the self adapt is on its limit to reach lambda 1 ... i switched the injectors to the correct 5.5L injectors ... no more errorcodes and the car uses 3L less fuel!
