1 piece front rotors
I was putting in my new front spring perch and noticed my front rotors seem to be one piece, not the original two piece. It does still have the AMG calipers, and the rotor seem to be the correct size, the car will nearly pop your eyes out when full braking. Am I just missing something? Or has the car been modified.

No, not at this time. They only have about 12k miles on them, still look new. I was just wondering Thanks for the answers Racingbrake, I will keep you in mind when the time comes to change them out!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Racing Braje rotors. They are the best available rotors for our cars and they last twice as long as OEM rotors. They are also much lighter, and have far better cooling which helps reduce fade significantly.
I have all 4 on my ML63 and could not have been happier about the transformation. If you are going to get their rotors get a set of their brake pads as well

I have run OEM and stoptechs. Both dust a lot. Their pads dust less and as long as you use them on a brand new set of rotors you should have no squeal issues (brake pad cross contamination from mixing two different sets of pads)
Their pads are designed to be used with their super hard steel alloy, for that reason they are the most optimal pad to run as many of the ceramic pads out to here are NOT compatible with their rotors bc the pads are just too soft.

That's good to know I put new pads in the front a few years ago and had never change the rotors yet. Next time around, I'll get the rotors and pads from them
They don't make the rear rotors for our cars....

Zayed, isn't that a two piece rotor in your picture? Looks like it to me...

I have heard of a cheaper alternative rotor for these cars, but can't remember what it is, my guess is that is what was put on, because I was under the impression that all of these cars came with two piece stock. Mine are undoubtedly 1 piece. They work great, and I probably wont replace them untill it is needed or I run into an excellent deal.

*the only difference is the place of rotor retaining bolt,,
it's not that necessary to have it, it's just to keep the rotor in place when trying to align the lug bolts...

Hello Zayed,
I stumbled upon the W210 AMG Wikipedia page, and it's listing the front rotors to be floating-two piece rotors.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercede...0#AMG_versions
Under "E50, E60 and E55 AMG - common technical specifications"
Cheers,
Faiz

Hi Faiz,
Yes sure, you're right,
technically it's 2 piece, it called "non removable solid piece", many other MB/Audi/BMW got 2 piece solid Hat,,
but in our auto brake world, we consider 2 piece as "removable or replaceable Hat with Hex bolts"..

Well defined. A true two piece rotor is not just how they are made (w/two different metal) in the process, it's disc should be replaceable which is a labor intensive hand assembly so very few true "two piece" on OE set up.
