What did you do to your E55 today?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Replaced a worm out breather hose.
Found some rust in the rear wheel well and fixed it.
Found these S65 / CL55 / SLK55 calipers on ebay for cheap with a terrible paint job.
Stripped off the old paint, it took several tries to get all of it off.
Painted them silver and put some AMG decals on them
Old setup
New rotors
Trimmed and painted the dust shield
All back together

the bolts holes are (12.7mm), and your hub uses (10mm) bolts,
have to put (1.5mm-2mm) sleeves into the holes to make sure calipers will not moving due to hard brakes..!,
also, have to cut the spindle edge to give more clearance to the caliper bolt base,,
cause when you tighten the bolts, the edge of calipers bolts holes will be damaged, and they will not set properly in the middle of the Rotor..!!

I tried to order some 10mm ID tubing off of Ebay but it was coming from China and not going to arrive until sometime in October so I and they fit well.

i really heat these stupid shields, not that necessary to keep them, they protect nothing..!
!,just pull them off,
take the small piece which holds the L&R speed sensors in Fronts,
and keep the round base to hold the brake shoes at Rears,,
that's all..

Damn that car is good. Smooth, comfortable, torquey, reliable and stealthy. I bought an RS4 to replace it but, the E55 is in a different class, built for a different purpose.
The plan now is to restore it.
Ac compressor, rear bumper, dash cracks, carpet bald spots, driver's seat leather, new rear tires and wheel alignment.
Planted racing bracket 7lb 3oz
Recaro seat with side brackets 20lb 8oz
So it looks like I will save around 30lbs per seat.
So with my new battery and seat set up, looking to drop around 80lbs. Hopefully if my boss lets me use his e63 5 spoke wheels and I get two piece rotors I can maybe get down into 3700lb range.
