Headliner Material???
Does anyone know if Mercedes offered a suede option or some other option for a headliner??
I know someone that can do leather/fabric recovering and have been thinking of having him redo my headliner, A-pillars and everything else that has that light grey fabric in a black suede.
Before I go an purchase a roll of black suede material, I wanted to know if there was a factory option for me to pursue?
I would appreciate any info.
I also have a charcoal interior and mine came with a gray Alcantara headliner. Alcantara is a suede look-alike fabric. I thought all E55's came that way, but IIRC, EleanorOwner's had cloth as well. Think he had the dealer swap it out for the Alcantara.
Good luck!
If you're unsure whether your car SHOULD have been built with it or not, send me your VIN in e-mail (or the last 6 digits of your VIN) and I can look it up. I am curious as to why some do not and would like to figure it out. Especially interested in VINs from people who definitely do not have it; if you're unsure, I can verify.

I was thinking of doing the black suede, but if Mercedes offers Alcantera, I would do that instead.
Scorchie,
Sent you an email with my VIN. I appreciate your help in finding this out.

Are you saying that the Alcantera wasn't an option for Canadian cars?
Anyone in Canada have an E55 with Alcantera Headliner?
On my car and some others it is a grey coloured fabric. Some people have a softer Alcantera (suede type) material.

Sorry.... Too many PMs and I hadn't cleaned out old ones in a while.. I made some room now.
I am surprised your 2005 doesn't have it.. Damn.. I hope that it isn't the case that the Canadian cars don't get the Alcantera.. As for the pedals, your car should have them.. All late 2004+ cars were getting SL style pedals.
I bought my "old" '05 straight off the lot on 8/28/04. That car is now owned by XRAYAMG.
