M5 vs. chipped E55 AMG video

Out Of Control!!
I saw the video. There was definitely a BMW there, but I could not tell what the other car was. If we assume that the video was shot from a chipped E55, then uploaded to show that he got killed by Mr. Butt Ugly, then so be it, and it is definitely a fast car. Still ugly, though. Very ugly.

2003 E55 & 2014 GL550
Now let's talk about this for real.
This could actually be a blessing in disguise. If this IS legit and a stock N/A M5 is beating a chipped E55. Then we are in good shape when the new 6.3 comes out. It (new 6.3) has to put out more torque than the M5 doesn't it. I mean that is what AMG is famous for, torque.
So if new 6.3 puts out a tick more horse...AND more torque, and a little more stout gearing, and the 7 speed.....we go back into victory lane correct. I know I know...so many factors, but I think we will be in good shape.
Anyone got any torque figures on that M5. I would like to match them up to the ML63 and see what the difference is.

Torque is a big factor for long haul; however, there is more engineering than just torque which makes a car a winner, i.e. weight balance, total weight, drag, quality of gear changes. These have all been previously associated with a BMW, not an MB. The only thing 6.3 L will get you, I'm afraid, is lighter pockets with the higher fuel consumption.
You guys need to remember that there are alot of things that make an MB special and unique, i.e. luxury, comfort, prestige. Beating a BMW is not one of the virtues

But, I still stand by what I have said. Let me ask you this, have you ever seen a magazine article or car show pitting an AMG against an M, with the conclusion that the AMG was an "overall" winner? I don't think I have. Journalists, like most car enthusiasts drool over how an M-car is engineered and performs. Most don't share the same emotions over an AMG (SL being the exception)

Stupid question.... how do you know that the E55 is chipped other than the title says so? If it's indeed not chipped, I think it's a very good perf....
The M5 seems to have a very good driver.... didn't see it lose any significant time when changing gears or is it SMG?
I don't care who wins..... There will always be a better car out there.... E55 has beaten M5 for couple years (since W211 came out).... now E60 is out, we just need to wait until the new E63 (would be funny if MB at the end comes w/ E60 ).... I'm sure E63 is faster (at least straight line) and better handling than E55.... until another new M5 is out and the cycle repeats again.
All I wish is that M5 design were better.... just like E39... very classy yet agressive.

dont expect the auto tranny and drivline to be as efficiant as an smg manual like the m5's
the e60 m5 dynoed 471 hp at the wheels. The e63 will have more tourqe but how much can MB get at the wheels with there auto box in is the ? to ask

Must be missing something.
What do you do after the "Rapid Share " page comes up, to get to the video? Do you have to joine or what? - Bob

Scroll down to the bottom of the first page and click FREE. When the next page comes up, scroll down and wait for the timer to run to zero. When the filename appears, RCSA.

You diehards are forgetting,
BMW is 5.0, the AMG will be 6.3 to try and beat it, not really fair is it.
I love the Kompressor and Merc are going backwards with the 6.3, just so we vcan get a 7 speed box. Who gives a **** about gears, i would run a powerglide if it was going to be quicker.

And just so we can get a 7 speed? Where do you get your (mis)information?

4700lb (and that's conservative) ML63 already clocked at 4.8 0-60.
We were all waiting for the first numbers to come out and finally the proof is in the pudding. You knock almost a thousand pounds off that and we got an M5 a$$ whooper. Well, at least enough to reverse the rolls in that video.
We'll see.
Sooo, let me get this right! According to your theory the current E55 should BLOW away a 360 Modena due to the torque diff. between the MB and the Ferrari (515 vs. 275 lb.ft).
Benz will match the M5 in HP....will beat the M5 in torque, will have reduced weight albeit not as much as M5 I hear, and again, it's not like the AMG engineers, who seem to be doing fine on the circuit this year, are in a bug infested garage all trying to figure out what gearing to use. They will use sufficient gearing and drivetrain to give us the W. Ahhh, this M5 VS E55 gets me too worked up....I'm outta this thread... Please flame away.
