Burl Wood?

Any opinions on burl vs the black wood? I have seen the black and really like it but I've only seen burl in pix. I'm concerned there is too much contrast with the interior. I'm thinking about black or grey exterior. Anybody get burl and regret it or not get it and regret it?
Thanks

get black -- it'll make your car go faster.

A SL55 delivered 8/18/07, and an E55 wagon delivered 5/11/05
We have the burl wood in our E55 wagon.

Charcoal interior and burl -- looks fantastic. the black (Maple?) just looked too "plastic-ey" to me.

This is a pic of my Burled wood with matching aftermarket steering wheel. It is not a bright as the picture makes it look but you get the idea.

I also went Burl and love it. I think the Charcoal and burl is extremely classy. I agree with vetluver that his pic looks a little brighter than it really is. I also have the same steering wheel and would recommend it highly If the car was offered in other interior colors I may have considered the black. The main factor was that I bought the car and did not lease. If leased, maybe i would have went black. I was afraid that would be something I may tire of after some time. If you want to see burl go to your dealer an look at a regular E with charcoal/burl. You'll get a good feel for what it looks like then.

I had a W211 with Ash and Black Maple and although it looked nice, it did not have the contrast to show off the wood. When I got my S430, I have the Burl Walnut with Stone and I really like the combo. I saw the Burl with Ash and it also looks great. I think Burl and Charcoal will look great but I think the lighter interiors set off the wood more.

I bought mine online from Autowerks Direct which doesn't seem to be at the same address anymore. It's a MP Design as I recall. You can get them thru your MB dealership from the factory I think. Don't recall how much but I think it was about $1100(?)

Go Black Birdseye Maple 100%! The great thing (IMO) about the BBEM is that it helps the interior electronic modules (Command, HVAC ETC..) blend in really well. With brown wood, the edges stand out more and look more out of place. The interior is significantly nicer and more seamless with the BBEM.
