If we REALLY want to know who did this, it's not too much trouble to find out.... from time to time, I do some forensic log anaysis with regards to network and website security....

I have the IP address of the person who submitted the record to dragtimes.com, and have compared it against logs coming to the site and viewing images from m5board.com and mbworld.org...

there are MANY more log records to look at, but this is a summary.. I'm going to block out the IP to keep anyone from trying to hack this persons computer... but trust me, it's same IP...

this is the computer viewing that supra record yesterday:

so it's pretty clear that the person who submitted the record to dragtimes is following this unfolding on both sites.... probably laughing it up that we are picking it apart...

I personally don't think we need to "out" anyone..... but there is only one more step needed to find out who it was.... and I don't have control over the last step.... we KNOW the person is watching, just tell us you were "just kidding" already... E55 owner, M5 owner, or whatever owner....

 

Gustav over at m5board.com closed the "Another M5 1/4 mile time" thread, and deleted the thread altogether that show the details of how it was fake....

protecting their own, eh?

 

It is funny that the thread in m5board.com regarding to the discussion of the fake 1/4 mile run has already been locked.

Guys I think this is comming from my end, it's a Road Runner IP. I have made a few calls but the joke "not funny" was on me. Lets leave it at that, as I am not a happy person right now. That slip was fake, and I know who. As this has put a wrench into a family matter, lets leave this alone! I agree with my wife as our home is not a Frat house anymore as of today. I would not had problems with the post beeing open, but personally I will not miss it.

Even before the fake was called it was some question made about the legitimity of the post.

I personally found it reasonably, since it was imformed that the track it was run at, had normally problems with the 1/8 timing, and the time of 12,35 sec to 119 mph matches the times from Euro mags of mid 13sec to 125 mph.
I have not the skills to judge the 60`times with the 1/4 time.

No one ever said that the M5 was slow. The question being asked is are the new U.S. M5's faster than stock E55's in the 1/4 mile. Looking for real world times not Rag Mag times. Go to Dragtimes to see what E55's run. Only one legitimate E60 M5 time is there so far.

bahahahah 360 spyders run around 12.9 in the 1/4 mile, and both cars looks pretty even in the last two races. E55 is still champ

 

It seems as if a lot of people are worried that the M5 isnt going to do much better on the strip than we have seen if they are resorting to tactics like this.

 

It is an aspect of the car. Like exterior styling, fit and finish and all of the other things that go into our decision to purchase one of these fine vehicles.

If you don't think that particular aspect is important then don't partake in this discussion, but it is rather shallow-minded to be critical of others for having a very amiable conversation about one aspect of two cars and how they compare.

This has to be one of the more mature discussions on the net for a subject that many are passionate about, let it flow.
