60-130mph times
During my Porsche days the 60-130mph time was the benchmark for performance. (elminating launch and shifts) I was wondering if anyone had timed their e55 using this benchmark.
FYI my 3.6 turbo "s" conversion ran it in 9.6 sec. My buddies Ruf 8.6 sec Other supercars from Car & Driver:
Enzo: 7.0
CGT: 7.3
F430: 9.5
F50: 9.6
When my car is finally broken in I'll post mine bone stock.

Why is 60-130 some kind of benchmark? For people who don't know how to launch a car properly?
Also, how do you time this properly? Speedos in autos are notoriously inaccurate, especially when accelerating quickly. It's not possible to accurately time unless you're using some type of 5th-wheel or GPS based timing device.

I would bet a stock e55 would run in the 10’s, which is pretty quick! The great thing about this measurement is the elimination of so many factors (wheel spin etc.) Just raw hp vs. wgt and aero.
Now the e55 would really shine cruzing at 60 the dropping the hammer to 130. Torque would be a great equalizer with some of the fastest cars out there.

Definitely! :p We used it to measure modifications on our cars to get a "real world" dyno. Instructions: Start in first at a slow roll and take each gear to redline. Most use video. Time the video when the speedo hits 60 and 130. I used a Automotive Performance Meter by www.race-technology.com from my racecar for measurement.

As an example, a car like the Gallardo and 911TT has the advantage of AWD. For a straight line race, the only benefit of AWD is the launch and getting the power down in first gear. If you race from 60 mph, then the only thing AWD does is add 200 plus pounds of useless weight. So if I insist on racing an AWD car in my E55 from 60 mph, it is as though I need a big guy riding shotgun just to make it a "fair" race.

Well we had a chance to run my 55 today 2 times 60-130mph (in Mexico of course 
). Starting at a slow roll 5-10 mph then nailed it. My passenger started the stopwatch at 60 (on the digital display) first run was 11.1 2nd was 10.8. Not to shabby. It was a tad warm down there today. If it was 20 degrees cooler it could have been quicker. It would be interesting to hear what the guys with tuned 55's run. I'm sure they would break 10 sec.

When Chad's KA S-Car-Go 996tt gets back on the road, I have a feeling it will be quicker than Alex's Protomotive.
