SL 55 VS. 2006 Z06 finally happened.

I finally run a SL55. Off the line the Z06 will destroy most all even moded. I was out like 5 cars on him. I got a perfect lauch in the Z. After the first off the line run to the top of 3rd and in to 4th. I let off and the guy in the SL 55 let up for a second and then pinned it. I gave chase to 142. and was at the SL55's door. SL's are fast.

So what?

What's the big deal? Add a thousand pounds to your vette to make things more equal and see what happens.

The key word above is perfect launch in the Z (which is not easy since I have driven the C6 Z at the track). The SL55 will always have a great to perfect launch. That day at the track, the Z never broke into the 11's.

You know all this since you own a E55.

Congrats again on the new Z06

btw - who are u using for the mods on the Z?

Nice kill!

I wish you were here in AZ, I've come up against 1 new Z in the SL600, but the guy wouldn't race me I'd love to see them run together.

Nice run against the SL55! I see you are planning your mods already, are you going with the LGM stuff? You quite possibly will register above 548rwhp with the mods listed and a proper tune.

Good Luck

a few...
with LGM stage 1 cam and headers you can get 548rwhp easily. with intake i can only imagine what the numbers would be.

and to the whole, add 1000 lbs to the car and see what happens, cars are all different... if they were the same then what fun would comparing/debating be?

Why? They're not trying to even out the two cars to make the race interesting, they're racing to see how a 55K fairs with the new C6 Z06. So the 55k cars are almost 1000 lbs heavier, boohoo. :p

I agree, I just whooped a C6 Vette in a 5000lb S-class!

Check out the whoopage!

I guess it would be a great kill against our e55s since we are faster than a sl55.

nice run..

it is kinda shocking to hear that from a roll you were not able to pass him, with less weight, extra gearing and better draf coef.

I wonder if the SL55 had a chip or pulley?

If the z06 runs 11.7xx or 11.88, you should of been able to pass him at the higher speeds, NO?

SL55's run 12.2 to 12.4 on average, right?

congrats on having both awsome cars!

I was in second gear around 4000rpms so he did a fly by at 65-70 on full power then we hit it and we were door to door at 142mph.

As to the weight issue? I did have my 200lb bother in the car with me to help even it out.

I was the passenger in this race. What I saw in this race was something a bit different.

Off the line, the Z destroyed...at least 1.5-2 out of the hole no ****. We missed 2nd, and were still able to stay ahead, into 3rd and 4th as we pulled at least 6 cars into 4th...we braked and slowed down. The SL stayed on the gas on a flyby. I said "GO". We then downshift to 2nd, into 3rd and we are pulling, pulling, into 4th and we are pulling through to the very top right door to door...then brakes, cars are visible up ahead.

This was a very deceiving run. At first, it appears as though it does take awhile from 65 to 140 to even out. However, as I look back on the exact timeline/sequence of events, it was actually a very amazing race.

IMHO, the MBZ had to be at 110MPH+ when he went by us. The Z instantly made power to 7K in 2nd, into 3rd even then pulling, into 4th reelling in. How much advantage power/weight does it take to do this...to me, A LOT.

That's it. It was fun. I will run this Z with the Supra soon.

I really can't wait to run a C6 Z06, especially from zero. I just destroyed a Ws6 with intake/headers/exhaust (I/H/E) and big shot of NOS 4+ cars. And that car took a C6 albeit non-z06 by 2 cars and that c6 had I/H/E.

Any in the DC area want to run? PM me.

it's really tough to go against a car with a running start.....

My office manager has a C6 Conv. I ran him this AM. From the light I let him get out about 3 cars then hit it and I went passed him during the 1st 2nd burn out. My office manager has a new Red Z06 as well.

the biggest problem with the E55 off the line is gearing and limited slip, A e55 with performance differential (better gearing) and limtied slip would do a MUCH better job and may even keep up head to head with new Z06.

Spero, where you been man? I'm back now, will be going out again in Feb.

Anyway, I can't believe some of the ***** I'm reading. A Z is suppose to be faster than the E55, SL55, x55. "I guess it would be a great kill against our e55s since we are faster than a sl55". How much faster do you think the E55 is compared to the SL55?
"A e55 with performance differential (better gearing) and limtied slip would do a MUCH better job and may even keep up head to head with new Z06." On the contrary, cars without LSD seemed to perform better than the ones with them.

Not trying to start ***** but the Z is just a fawkin beast, if driven properly. I think the Z will be at it's best when rolling since I have seen the Z at the track and it appeared that it was very hard to launch.

Spero, you get your SL55 yet? Hey I'll call you tomorrow I have some ***** to tell you

NO WAY NOT EVEN CLOSE. I have both cars. I owned a 2004 E55 and now have a 2005 E55. I have draged and tracked the E55. I am a true E55 guy. But the Z06 is a purpose built race Car. I have not started the E55 for 2 weeks now. I wish I could send it to Colarado for some R&R with our buddies. But with the SL65 and S65 at $120K and droping it is hard to put any cash into the E55. I am eying a SL65 now.

Do your research! You are correct that the 65's are falling in price like rocks. I passed on a 05 SL65 about 4 weeks ago for $125K.

btw- the C6 Z would have a hell of a hard time hanging with my modded E running mid 11's.

OOPS I mean 65...anyway, I'll call you tomorrow. Man, I'm still "homeless". Can you believe it? We sold our house with nowhere to go...LOL. Attorney is handling it, I'm sick of dealing with the builder at this point. I'm looking for a 4 car garage home now, you remember my buddy in Chicago with all those cars, well the Gallardo might need a new roof over its head Oh, if it happens (very likely at this point) I'm gonna scrap the M5 and get a CLS55 with 030 for daily use I think...we'll see. I'll call you for some opinion.

If it happens, you'll be the first to drive it after me of course

Back to this thread, K2 E55's would take the Z IMO...those K2 cars are REALLY FAST
