People riding on 20's now with pictures!
I just put new wheels on the car off a freinds CL600 whose lease was up. They are 20x9 front and 20x10 rear. The tires are 254/35 and 285/30. My questions is has anyone tried or is using 255/30 and 295/25 tires and what were/are the results. They seem to fit fine as they are but with a 9" width in front i can go to a 255 if it will fit and with the 255 and 295 the overall height will be closer to stock. The tires on now are semi worn Pilot Sport AS and the grip is worse than the stock Conti's.
I will post pics as soon as I get around to washing the car, they are Maya GR5's silver with a polished lip.

The extra width may cause rubbing of the inside lining of the wheel well (especially with different offset) and at maximum acceleration (weight transfer to the rear if your car is lowered) it apparently triggers ESP and the whole rear "wiggles until the car levels off after accelerating. Stay with the first size I mentioned and check the offsets.
If you like the wheels but they have more than 10mm too much offset, say ET44 front instead of ET 30, you can get hubcentric flanged spacers from H&R which will push your wheels out to the desired offset, without resting the entire wheel weight on the lug bolts only.

I think that it would be a mistake to go to a lower profile tire (even with the extra width).
I also think that with your living in Florida that you made a mistake going with the Pilot A/S's.
I suggest you go with Michelin PS2, Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3, or Continental Sport(Extreme?)Contact 2's -- and I would very strongly suggest that you fit them in a size and profile that matches OEM overall diameter.

I did want to try a 295/25 so that I can finally get rid of the conti's and get ps2's. Luke at the tire rack said that with my offset the 295's may rub. I think my car is also a little lower than yours.

I'll make it easy here are the diameters, as you can see the larger sizes in the 20" are much closer to oem diameter but the width on the 295 might be a problem that is why i'm asking if anyone using 20's currently has experience with any of these sizes.
245/40/18 25.7" dia.

Does your car have 20's on it and if so what size tires are you running, or have run?

Even though I have 19's, I was wondering if anyone else with 295 rears is having the same "wiggle" sensation under acceleration. A couple of threads by Loren discussed this a while back. I am definitely getting some rub on the inside of the wheel well with the 295, not the outside where rolling the fender would solve the problem. These 2 threads go into it in more detail with the 2nd one giving a definitive solution.

I have ran the 255/30/20 and the 295/25/20 before without a problem they were custom offset wheels but they did not rub whats so ever I have attached a picture.... If you have any questions let me know

going to 20" is there any problem with the suspension bolt in the front? Some I just spoke to today said I would have to shave a bolt, not sure what it's too but I felt it under my wheelwell, they said it would have be removed to ride on 20's.
Can someone help me on this? Is it true? and what's the bolt too, I'm guessing camber...

no, I just felt deep into the wheel well and felt a bolt, I was told by two place they need to cut it out... not sure I can take a picture with the wheel on and my real jack is broke... waiting for Valentines to get have my wife get me a new one! lol
