Its normal that DVDs only play in the top slot.

Mine are the picture posts above - for reference.
When I put the mp3 DVD or a DVD movie in the slot- the first screen shows a 'DVD Movie' icon and, beside it, a 'compact disc' icon. The movie then plays when I push the 'video' button on the left side of the COMAND.

If it plays an mp3 DVD the hardware must be correct it must be a software setting or version problem or DVD problem. Try another commercially available, good-quality, DVD AND make sure the region setting matches on the DVD and in COMAND. It might be that the DVD wont play because of some copyright software if the regions dont match.

I tried to watch DVD...put DVD in...it start to read but the says no DVD or cant read...

What should I do ???

Also how can I make (EURO) my DVD to work while driving ???

 

I assume your COMAND looks the same as in post 58, above.

Try another DVD with the car engine off (gear selector in park with park brake on) - does it work?? Is the region code on the DVD and the setting for the car the same??? - check in the menus above.
There are settings in the engineers menu which MIGHT allow DVD playback while driving - you will have to try the options (write down the original settings BEFORE you start changing things!). I dont watch DVDs while I drive - I watch the other crazies on the road!

 

I dont either but it keeps the wife's eyes off the speedo ...!

My command unit and version is exactly like post 58.

I will try setting it to US region and try another movie.

For the drive distraction, if I uncheck everything does that mean the movie will work in all situation?

For the DVD MP3, it appears that the command unit only sees the first 60 directory. Does any know if it sees directory within directory?

 

My command the same but I cant get to Engeniring menu....

Do I press all the button at the same time ???

Also I went to other menu, the one you use for Dynomode but European cars do not have Dynomode, Confiremed Service one and now getting this message that I missed service B by 90 days ...anyone know how to clear this problem ???

Just try one option at a timne and see what works.

I placed my 1000 mp3s in about 6 directories (alphabetical) and it reads them all. I suspect (but haven't tried) sub-menus wont be read. I suggest you keep it simple.

Just today I went in for service D and asked for a SW upgrade to Command - the tech was great - he did the upgrade and now I have full MP3 playing, although now I cannot get into engineers menu. So looking again through this thread I think we can see this :-

1) Some commands have the MP3 from factory (late models - like all 06's and many 05's)
2) you can get upgraded to this level (it appears now I have this)
3) If you are earlier than 04 (despite you car production date I mean the SW date in the command) then you cannot get this engineers menu at all
4) if you are between the date in #3 and the MP3 enabled versions (#1) then you can either :-
4)a) follow the instructions and get to Engineers menu BUT not get
to the second level (*#<) to enable MP3 <-- this "was" me
4)b) follow the instructions and get to eng AND also get to second level
then enable your options yourself.
5) For video you just need the Euro version (no choice here) and also you must enable the in motion ability by going in the menu's.

Now I'm not sure but this pattern seems to fit all the issues people have had - like not getting the screen at all, or having the mp3 from factory, or getting only one menu not both.

Hope this helps for those not getting the responses assumed to be possible (I was confused myself getting eng menu but no further)

just to add i got into all the command screens no problem. but dvd keep saying CD error

 

My audio on DVD works, but I get no video... any help on getting the video. I know this thread seems like it's been beat to death... but any input will be appreciated.

 

You cant get video on a US Comand. There is no DVD player. You need a Euro Comand (or at least thats what I've been told)

 

Does you COMAND look like the jpg picture in post 58? Specifically does it have a 'video' button on the side? If not, I think your out of luck.

 

No VIDEO button, I have a SAT button instead. I confused it with my 05 S600. It has DVD label when it opens up, and plays DVD and I can hear audio, just not Video.

 

I think if there's no video button and you don't have TV then your COMAND is not video enabled. That's likely to be a hardware problem - ie change the COMAND, not a software upgrade issue. Sorry.

IF YOU HAVE EURO COMMAND AS IN POST 58 BUT AT ANY TIME DEALER HAS UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE TO IT THEN YOU ARE SCREWED, THERE IS NO WAY OF GETTING IN TO THE ENGINEERING MENU AS THEY CLOCKED ON AND DISABLED THAT FUNCTION COMPLETLY.

How do i know this ???? I learnt the hard way, i unlocked it as per steves same instructions 2 months ago, then car went in for a service and the mfers upgraded my firmware whilst in.

Another way to find out if your euro command has the latest software is simple, whilst in navi mode if your command displays ETA on it then its been upgraded and the sequences will not work.

I think my was upgrad. On nav presents ETA. There are no way to do a downgrad??

When i put a dvd and press video button appears, no video found...

 

mbdoctor.com was able to help me with that issue as mines was locked out.

 

But do you get sound?
what about a CD? If that works burn a FEW mp3s to a CD and try - AUDIO, MP3.

 

No way possible to downgrade
only way possible now is to unlock it via obd port.
