Its the adaptive part of the tranny I was asking about. I look at it like this, If its my car and I am the only driver I would like to know that I have consistency everytime I give it gas. Have you ever noticed after being in traffic for hours and then after the traffic you are finaly able to drive, your car isnt as responsive as it was. This is why we do that "SNEAKY ECU RESET".
I can understand if its a husband and wife car then this isnt a big deal.

Too much of anything isnt good. So I cant imagine doing this over and over is a good idea. But again what the heck do I know, I just got the car and love it, not sure I really feel this is nessecary, but if you all insist.

Sorry to bring this thread bak.. does anyone know if this trick works on BMW's cars, especially the SMG models?

OK tried it on my W210. Dont know about HP increase or anything like that, but I DEFINITELY chirp more than before. Taking off from a stop light, its now impossible to not spin the wheels with the same effort as before.
Haven't yet noticed any changes in downshifts, but I think its safe to say the reset did something.

not sure if this has been covered in another thread or not, but when holding WOT for 5 seconds, is it necessary to activate the kickdown switch at the very bottom?
Will finally give this a try, as im often confused and disappointed by the cars change in character.
cheers

I did this tonight before I left for dinner and my car was all over the map. At one point the car felt like it was sluggish not really putting the power down. Has anyone else experienced his? When I took the car out again after dinner the car had normal power. Weird? I did put a Kleeman pulley on. Could the computer still be adjusting to the additional intake? Telling me WTF do I do with the extra air?

Yeah, take this how u want.
If i were you, id do the following.
Wait 150-300 miles. Drive normal and vary rpms. Freeway. all that fun stuff...
DONT get on it to hard, DRIVE normal and a little easy the first miles and let the ecu adapt..
Then after 150-300 miles really let her have it!

Still waiting for dyno results or back-to-back track runs after an ECU reset................
I don't trust anyone's "seat-o-the pants" meter.
This whole thread sounds like an urban legend.

The reset did work my car, Avery I did the reset it operated in a very strange manor immediatley after the reset and did not bounce back for at least 100 miles. Now the car pulls strong and really gets up and goes. You can Believe it or not but you have to try it for yourself before passing judgement. There are a lot of skeptics on this forum just look at the Sprint Booster threads. Not everything out there is snake oil.

Reset with Spring Booster installed?
Sandoval,
Do you have the Spring Booster on the car when you did your reset? You had mentioned to me that the car was already quite sensitive to throttle with the SB.
I will like to try the reset with and without the sb, which should be here next week.

When I reset the ECU it was right after I installed the Kleemann Pulley Sprint booster came a few weeks later. Now that I have put some miles on the car after the ECU reset the car is back to normal the TQ is there when you need it. This car is a true rocket.
