Holy Crap you guys.....sneaky ECU reset WORKS!!!

I use this trick when I go to the track. I am not an MB insider, and do not know this to be fact, but I believe that it really does reset certain parameters in the ECU that make the car more aggressive. Not sure what it is.
The ECU and the tranny are adaptive. When you drive like a grandma in traffic for weeks at a time, the car "learns" this driving style and, I believe, alters throttle response and shifting speeds.
As an example, when I ran at Atco last year at a track rental, I did not reset the ECU. Just forgot. My first two runs that day netted me my best ever 60 foot times (1.6's). But my 1/4 time and speed were not nearly my best of the day. And those runs were under optimal conditions with the coolest air of the day. As I ran more and more runs, and even though it gradually got warmer and warmer, my car ran stronger. I never got a 1.6 second 60 ' time again. So my car got faster "down the track". My best run of the day - 11.901 @ 117.52 (from memory) - was one of my last runs of the day. And I left to put gas in the tank for the afternoon, so it wasn't that my car weighed less. The car just "learned" to run hard.
When I went to englishtown this April, I used the trick and ran an 11.85 @ 118.17 on my first run.
I BELIEVE that the sneaky ECU reset either "primes" the car to run stronger or "erases" the grandma driving pattern from the ECU. I don't know this, but I believe that the car feels stronger.

Could you share you launch technique to achieve sub 12 second 1/4 mile results. That's an amazing feat with a STOCK E55.

I picked my car up used with about 60K miles on it. I tried the ECU reset this morning before coming to work and the car felt 100X better. More responsive, better acceleration, and (surprisngly) better control.
Amazing....EVERYONE MUST TRY THIS.....

I'll do a couple of runs before the reset and few after. We'll see if it makes a difference.

anyone know if this will reset Netherlands settings on a C32? (this is done so that the car chirps when being locked/unlocked). I can't re-do that setting without having the dealer use star diagnostics or whatever.

I have heard that if you put in a different pulley (178mm for example) you have to do the ECU reset and it takes 500 miles of driving for the ECU to "adapt". Another question (major REPEAT) is if you are putting on a different pulley is there a special M-B tool needed?
I have tried the "sneaky ECU reset" and have noticed anything...
Glad others have had positive experiences, though. It seems this is more than theory based on some feedback)

I just tested my car with the G-TECH PRO RR after the ECU tuneup.
My previous best times in the same location were consistent 4.7sec 0-100
kph (0-62.5mph)
Today, I just could not get out of the hole! There is so much wheel spin from the start, that the ESP cuts all the power every time, even with the "one-second-throttle-squeeze". The best I could do was 4.9 sec with a shocking 20m in 2.49 sec.
Given that my previous best 60' was 1.874sec (=20m approx 2.05sec), that would be a loss of 0.44sec in the first 20m. I tried 6 times and it was all 4.9-5.0sec with the same 0-20m half second loss.
Had I been able to control the accelerator a little better and eliminate that 0.44 sec handicap, this car would have done 4.46sec 0-100kph or 4.2 sec 0-60mph! Certainly LSD and DR's would be nice too, but then we could not compare the results with a stock set up.
I then tried repeating the exercise with ESP OFF...those fat PS2 285's aren't cheap, so it is not a good idea and definitely not for the faint hearted...WOOOOW!
So there you have it, the stock E55 seems to be much faster than before the ECU "tuneup", but it will take a few more launches to learn to put this extra power and torque down to the road!
Check out this video of me "merging" with 60mph traffic...

It's not snake oil or an urban legend, the sneaky ECU reset works! I was shocked at how dramatic a difference there was. For anyone going to the track, etc., or who wants their beast back, this mod is a bargain @ 100 times the cost!

As an obvious newby here, I really appreciate this being bumped up to the top today. It may be urban legend, but it sure lit up the butt dyno.
I can't tell you how much information I have received from this site. I am on here WAY too much. I just can't get enough even though my productivity has gone in the crapper.

Not snake oil, it's proven to work.

I love you guys. I mean there's my girlfriend, my family, the children that I will bring into the world one day, and then there are my brothers on MBWorld. You guys make my world go round, and you also help me get so much more out of my car... Not that it isn't enough as it is. As soon as I get home I'm trying this out, and taking a few runs up and down my block. God bless the man who brought this information to light.
And BTW... why isn't this a sticky? I think that everyone needs to see this. EVERYONE...
