If I reset my ecu everynight will it affect anything in the long run ? I figured if I do it everynight the next day the car will drive great all the time.

Hrm, I'll try it tomorrow.
I swear to god, the ECU is evil. Kleemann, Renntech and now even a reset brings out the beast. We have to blame the ECU for not letting these cars reach its maximum potential.

Just tried it because I figured what do I have to lose, and to tell you the truth I thought it was my head playing games with me, but it definitely felt faster and alot "smoother" if you know what I mean...

OK - sceptic here , but I will try it soon.
In the mean time can anyone explain how resetting the tranny history gives you more go ? Has got nothing to do with engine mapping .... just shift points. So out of the hole car will be same if not worse I reckon.
BUT I will try it and see for myself.

Its like riding a mountain bike: try to accelerate uphill in high gear and then drop down a few cogs and voila, you are now overtaking joggers!
Also, the accelerator pedal is much more sensitive so if you are pressing it down as much as you used to before, you are probably getting 20% more juice flowing into the injectors.
I just did my first full tank refill after the ECU reset and got a 5% mileage improvement! It just gets better!

I just tried this on my 03' CL600.
Being non-AMG, in the past the tranny seemed extremely unresponsive when asked to downshift..sometimes it just wouldn't do it no matter what at slow speeds (unless I changed gears manually).....which is really needed to get the turbos going.
However, after the ECU mod, the car didn't hesitate at all to downshift and it went right into boost which makes it feel like an entirely different animal. This solved one of the major problems I had with my car!
SWEET!!!

Sounded like everyone had the same issues Before the reset, my biggest concern was , unlike the old days, the car is no longer able reach 176/kmh within the kind of timing I used to get keeping the same driving style. Now, the throttle is more responsive and it seems every gear change I could reach a higher rpm without putting extra effort on the fuel pedal. The kickdown works again as it was never. I was just about to make a big compliant to MB as I thought all that issues were because they never changed the sparks plugs, tranny oil , air filter at now 28000km! But now, it seems if they ever do , the car will be even better!
I am curious why MB service center never did a 'reset' for my car?

The only difference I felt was that first gear was punching hard! From a 15 mph roll, the S430 actually chirpped the rubbers and made traction control kick in for a bit!
Other than that. Not much. I'm gonna try resetting it again.

ECU resets
Alright... So I finally decided to reset the ECU in my other two older Benzs...
First, I went through the steps with my 01 E430 and magically it appeared to be a little smoother and a bit more responsive... (I am NOT sure if this is due to the 4 new tires I replaced and immediately performed the ECU reset).
Secondly, I did the same steps with the 02 CL55 and I dont think it helps... Or may be a little bit... Perhaps I had this notion/image in my head that the RESET will make it smoother on the CL55? May be it didnt work!

WORKS on a SL55... though all my settings (i.e. folding mirrors, etc.) were set back to default.
Funny, when I first got my E55 my GF was saying that the car seemed "twitchy" and had one of my employees complain mildly about my "jerky driving". When asked later and they said no... that "I got better...".
Well, I had the GF in the "reset" SL55 yesterday and she said... "You're twitching again..."
The car is certainly more responsive to slight throttle changes after a reset.

Tried out the ECU reset. I noticed something else with the reset. I had a problem with my sunroof after I let the battery completely discharge. Basically the sunroof wouldn't open. After doing the reset it now opens however it only opens a couple inches each time I press and hold the button down. Found that interesting.

This car just rips up the tarmac and the orange ESP light (which I hardly ever see unless I am taking a sharp corner too fast) stays on for 100' in a straight line after launch! I really struggled to keep it on a straight and narrow on a suburban street.
From now on, every night after parking my car in the garage, I am going to
"tune it up" so it's ready for the next day! Thanks for the tip!

Drove the SL600 this morning after resetting it last night. The car comes with the driver-adaptive transmission and it felt like it shifted and accelerated much more smoothly. So either it really works, or I am feeling the placebo effect.

Two little observations after reset , may or may not be caused by the reset, would like you guys to check if yours are still normal.
1. Bi-xenon auto levelling seems working funny or not working at all, one (or both ) of the headlamp light beam seems not pointing far enough.
2. The steering wheel seems not returning to the memorized location after door closed.
Thanks
