PS2's WTF!
Ok put on PS2's and I'm still getting overnight flat spotting, I never had this problem with MY CLK500 although it had Pilot Sports not 2's. Do you think it could still be the balance and if so why am I only getting the steering shimmiy when the tires have sat for a while, the worst is after I park in a indoor garage and the tires are hot, I'll get nasty shimmy for about a minute then it smooths right out. Is everyone else experiencing this? Will a balance on the GSP9700 help with this issue perhaps by match mounting the high and low spots of the rim and tire. Please help I hate this!!!!

Well I hate to admit it, but over the years I've had several different performance tires do this. Yes it smooths right after a couple miles, but it happens on many tires:Pilot Sports

Yokohama db's
Now the real crazy thing........I bought a CHEAP set of Hankooks - K104's, and the problem is not nearly as frequent. The car has to sit for days at a time for the tires to get a flat spot... for Daily driving...NO Flat spots!

Strange. My Conti's flat spotted after sitting for only a day or 2. With my PS2's, my car has sat for a week without any flatspotting. I always inflate my tires with an extra pound of pressure. I don't know if this has helped me avoid flat spotting on my PS2's, but maybe it is worth a shot.

So, excuse my complete ignorance on this topic. I've seen a lot of people talk about it, but what exactly do you notice when you drive? And how old do the tires have to be (i.e., does it happen right away from brand new?)? Is it something only noticeable under "extreme" driving? Or just pulling out of the driveway? I don't notice anything with my stock contis, but I may be just too ignorant to know that it's happening...

I was told that basically because they are very wide, low profile tires and as such virtually all of them (and others) will do so until they heat up. Even in the garage they cool down and flat spot, but as soon as you start driving they heat up and "fill out" they way they are supposed to. I do not notice any flat spotting during the summer months. Guess that's why drag racers and GT racers are always heating their tires up before they run.

The only thing that I feel which is a little funny is a minor 1-2 second delay for the what feels like the power steering to kick in when starting the car and starting to turn the tires. Feels like the front tires are flat, but then a second or two after the first turn is initiated, it's fine.

SO GLAD YOU POSTED THIS!! Mine been sitting in the garage for almost 2 weeks.....don't ask.
Anyway, took it out yesterday and thought something was wrong. Passenger seat was shaking......flat spot it is then on the PS2's.

It's definitely more like 3/4 mile from my office, so maybe my spots are gone by the time I get on the road. Plus, it's during the day and not overnight, so I'm not sure if it sits long enough (or it's cold enough).
I guess I'll have to do 55 in my parking lot to test it out!

And I'm sure you already know this but the PS2 are a pretty soft tire (I have them mounted on a 996T, and get flat spots overnight after hard driving). Add that to the mix of possible problems.
