Question CLS dash vs E55

I spent some time at the dealer and noticed for the first time that all CLS's (not just the 55's ) dash boards are nicely covered in leather. So why not the E's let alone the E55's?

Something has to justify the added base price??

I am pretty sure you can get the suede look for the E as well (aftermarket that is).

The dashboard is leather and the headliner is suede.

Yes, the dash top is stitched in leather and looks much nicer than the all plastic on the E and E55. I'm surprised and would think that if a base CLS500 has a leather covered dash, at least the E55's should.

True but the wood with the matte finish on the CLS is ugly as sin. Looks cheap to me.

If you don't like the matte, get the gloss. No cost option.

Sinds 2004 you can order you're E55 from MB like you wish (in Europe) . It's named; 'Designo'. When I bought my E 55, it was not possible, so I did it aftermarket (Brabus). Because the plastic on the dash bothered me every day more and more!

You can see here the result:

I chose for suede on the dash!

Does the US spec E55 have the alcantra dash cover? Or even leather? I thought it was just $6k for a specific color scheme. Damn, I would have paid for the dash treatment.

some slow@$$diesels
all CLSes come with a leather covered dash...even the "cheap" diesels

The E-class is available (in the Rest Of World) with a designo package (just some nappa leather in several different colors) AND with an extended designo package (leather and alcantara covered dash, console and doorpanels).

E55s in the US should not come with too much standard extras from factory as those are sold way too cheap as it is already.

greetingz,

greetingz,
So Steve, what would the price be for the leather dash for the E55, if it is available? I wish the E55 has the leather dash too.

Since owning both the CLS and E, I still think the interior of the E is much nicer due to the amount wood trim compared to the CLS.
