E55 mods for 1999

Hello:
New to the site. I was wondering what mods can be done and approx cost to increase hp in my 99 e55. Could performance be close to 03-06 55's?

Thanks!

................the answer is yes, but it will cost you much more than it will cost to trade in your car and get get an 03 E55. The 03 E55's can be had for $50K. You have several choices for a instant power upgrade on your W210 E55.

1. HPS supercharger GEN 1. You will make about 360RWHP and your car will be fast but not as fast the W211 E55. Cost under $10K

2. HPS Gen 2 s/c: you will make above 420 RWHP and your car will be almost fast as the W211 E55. You will have difficulty improving the performance further if you decide to do so, because HPs does not offer anything else beyond their s/c's. cost under $10K

3. Kleemann s/c. You will make about 420 RWHP and your car will be almost as fast as the W211 E55. Cost $14K. You will then have the option to add headers, ECU, camshafts, gear ratio change, torque converter etc to bring your car faster than a stock W211 E55, but be prepared to rub a bank to do it.

4. Renntech s/c: same as Kleemann but costs more.

5. Brabus increased displacement. Your car will be significantly slower than a W211 E55 but you will not only have to rub a local bank, you will have to rub the Federal Reserve Bank to pay for it. Total waste of money.

6. Carlson and MKB. Not much support in the North America.

Ted- Thank you for the info. I'm thinking of just trading the 99 in towards another Benz I've got 57k on this one. What do you think the real trade value or retail value is worth on this car?

...........unfortunately trade in value for a 99 e55 will probably be in the teens. It does not have nav and does not have the updated steering wheel with steering wheel audio and telephone controls.

I have:
1) removed secondary cats
2) removed resonator
3) installed IK16 Denso plugs
4) installed Magnacore wires
5) Altered/built an cold air intake with an K&N intake
6) Powerchip programing of PCM
7) Had x-pipe installed at post cats location.

with this, I have probably gained @ 40+ hp.
I can beat, new STI, SRT8 Jeep, C5 Vette and a few others under my belt.

Keep the car, its a classic....great daily driver.Get a E55k and modify the **** out of it for the weekends.

Have any pics of your exhaust and cold air intake setup?

Check out this video.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/138853-vid-supercharged-210-burnouts.html

It belongs to my broast from another coast Mario. It's your vehicle with the HPS Gen 1 using the MP90. I would do a search about the Gen 2 and you'll have yourself an answer about that option. For the $ you can't beat what you've just watched. About 4k for the system. It's not perfect(I'm in the middle of installing one) but it will work good.

If your in California I would go see Josh at HOP and have them build you a custom vortech system. Way better, and from what I was quoted still under 10K buy twice that of the HPS gen 1. The HOP vortech system would definitly give you 400 rwhp though, with little hassel.

I will post them Tuesday, when I'm back in town.

I know for a fact the factory set-up needs improvement. I felt a difference with my intake mod. Did I mention the badass sound also? I have less then $150 invested in the intake (including K&N filter) in which includes air flow duct tubes and foil insulation to make it a true cold air. The intake mod with the simple and cheap exhaust work cost me less than $500 and made the biggest difference.

PCM re-program was snake oil.

Ted knows first hand about what he is talking about......but......a little credit is due for the w210 E55. But, then again....I don't have payments on my E55. If you where to finance the car....justify a little more a month and get a E55K.

...........I absolutely love the W210 E55. I like the muscular lines and the bullet proof reliability. Slap on a Kleemann s/c and you'll have yourself a supercar that is timeless. But you have to like the W210. If you are just looking for a fast Mercedes, then a 2003 S600 for $50K or a 2003 or 2004 W211 E55 for $50K are very good options. If your W210 E55 is already paid for, then spring for the Kleemann and you will not be dissappointed. I personally derive more pleasure out of buying a car and then tinkering with it than to buy an already fast car and keep it stock.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I really don't care for the W211 body. I like the
210 body on my 99 E55. The car is paid for and I have about 7k to spend on extras-any more options?

Thanks in advance
