Sending my beast to Renntech
Well, i just got of the phone with my dealer. I'm dropping of my beast at the dealership on Monday & they're trucking it to Renntech so they can install my Stage 1 upgrade!!!!
The sales manager/Renntech specialist at my dealership told me that all the work being done on my car is fully covered under MB warranty, that's what clinched it for me. He told me that i should have my car back in 3 days, so i should have it by next weekend at the latest, i can't wait!

Your dealer is full of crap. You better get it in writing. MB will not cover any damage to your car under warranty that is caused by the Renntech parts.
Renntech may warranty the parts but MB will not.
Your dealer may even be able to sneak one or two warranty parts by MB but if you have a major trans failure or your differential blows up and a regional MB rep looks at the car, MB will not cover the warranty work.
If they tell you that your full MB warranty covers the Renntech work, you better get it in writing.
Not trying to start a flame war but you should be informed. I think Renntech makes great products for us to mod our cars with, just dont get sucked into the sales pitch of full factory warranty from MB.

As a dealership that has a partnership with Renntech ... most likely what is happening is that first the dealership will determine if its due to Renntech. If so Renntech will cover the costs to fix and the Dealership is being the broker and repair location.
As such, the repairs will be seamless to the customer.

Yup.. Schiznick is right on the money. When a major failure occurs a regional rep will come to look at the car and assess the cause. If he/she sees aftermarket parts (regardless of Renntech or not) they will dishonour the claim, blacklist your VIN for warranty, and you will be paying out of pocket.
Even if dealership gives it to you in writing, you will probably end up in court trying to get the money from them if something should happen.

There was no sales pitch. My dealership is a certified RENNtech installation facilitiy & their sales manager specifically told me "Any Renntech modification's done by Renntech through us (MB dealership) are fully covered by MB. Either way I will ask for the warranty information on paper as you mentioned.

I am not in any way saying you shouldn't get the work done. Just be informed of what could happen if you have a problem.
The only reason I commented was because you mentioned that it was the full MB warranty that pushed you over the edge. This is not the case.
I have never seen the Renntech warranty information in detail but I would get it in writing and then hope for only the best!

If you really want to have some fun call 1800 FOR MERC and ask them for their opinion on the topic.
Just ask, "If I have the RennTech Stage one kit installed on my E55 at my RennTech certified MB Dealership, is my car covered by the MB Warranty for catastrophic engine or drivetrain failure stemming from a RennTech part?"
Just don't tell them who you or or give them your VIN number
Seriously have fun and run that car hard!!!!

20+ to list......
Congrats, hope you will like it after the stage 1 is done. I threw my warranty out the window as I picked up my car, as a matter of fact, besides my wife's car, and my bimmer, I threw all warranties out the windows. I just think that these cars deserve so much more, and I'm not letting some guy looking at me and say: "You shouldn't have modified your car." Up yours, my ride, my money, I can do whatever the heck I want.

If the MB dealer bills him,.. and there is nothing stated on the paperwork that the mods done by MB "void" the warranty, then the car is still covered under factory warranty!
Remember - if the MB dealer is Renntech certified, they are getting a piece of the profits!

If your dealership is RENNtech certified why are they trucking your car off to install a pulley and flash the ECU, it seems awfully excessive to me.

If it goes to Renntech thats good...but the install is as simplle as hell and any MB wrench can do it with his eyes closed. You WILL enjoy the ride when it;s done !

Question for the masses - Is Stage 2 enough faster than Stage 1 to justify the additional cost? How much faster in a quarter mile? Quarter second, maybe, a car length? Does anyone know for sure?

The car is covered under your factory MB warranty for parts not related to performance mods that you have done.
If the command system goes out, it doesnt matter if you have a blower through the hood, you are still covered. If the sunroof doesn't open, covered, if the trunk closer fails, covered.
If your trans fails and MB thinks it was caused by the 700 HP that you were making on NOS, a pulley, ECU and airbox. MB will not cover this in a million years. You may get your dealership to pay for it, but in no way is MB warranty going to cover it.
At the time you start having non MB parts installed on your car at a dealership you have changed the dynamics. It is now between you and your dealer not you and MB.
Cheers
