Most of my street encounters are from a 5 to 10 MPH roll. You start out sort of quick, look at the other guy and you both floor it. If they are going from too fast of a roll on the BMW board, the E55's risk not being in 1st gear.

they didnt want to do too many LC's because they have to wait for the M5 to get its breath back (15mins) after each launch.. it would have taken forever for them to go through the whole guest list in that day. excuses

This is the reason I hate to race from a roll. Once my car shifts to second it feels like a slug if I can't get it to downshift back to first. If I can get on it while still in first, the beast is still in its sweet spot. If not, I've had mustang GT's make it a race.

Chicago,
I have raised the question to Gustav in the video thread https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....&postcount=137 . So far no response.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE
Nice job, Gustav. Move or delete any questioning of the mighty M car:

I guess the excuses got too silly for general comsumption. Way to act like the little girl folks make you out to be.

I think its getting old guys! Now some1 from M5board will come here and post "why there is no e55 on the track" then some1 from here will go and post "E55 OWNES the 1/4 track" ETC Guys get over it, two different cars for different folks, someone like comfort and low torque some like sharp handling car with high revving engine.

Very interesting video. I would never have thought that the standing start results would be so different from the rolling starts. I know the BMW didn't launch well and hit the rev limiter in 1st, but he never catches the Audi, amazing.

You gotta love those guys but I don't understand why anyone could try and justify rolling starts as "safe and fun" as compared to standing starts. First of all, they were on a friggin airfield, not a whole bunch of safety concerns unless you're pushing an old Merc CLK GTR (in which case you're always one breath away from doing backflips).
What were they worried about hitting? Second of all, BMW programmed LAUNCH CONTROL into the cars, so how are you going to tell me that the manufacturer, which is obviously concerned about safety, would ever include such an encouragement for unsafe behavior? I'm gonna have to call
on my Bimmer brethren, its just not a justification. Who cares if the M5 sucks from a dig, its not a top fuel funny car like an E55.
