Anyone want to race a M6 in Gainesville tonight?

I'm taking the new M6 to Gville tonight to run. We'll get there around 6. Late notice but wanted to offer it up.

Good luck Derek... I'm predicting 12.4x's @ 117

BTW -- I heard through the grapevine that a guy in Maryland running 100-wetshot on his K3 ran 10.48 @ 136. Look like you no longer hold the crown.

How the heck did he get it to hook up? He must be running ET streets with a ton of VHT on the track.

Gook luck... How many miles? This car gets significantly faster the more miles you put on it... I'm predicting around 12.6 116 if the car has less than 2000 miles and 12.2 119 if the car has more than 5000 miles.

a few...
Even though you are at the track currently, I wish you luck Derek.

If you have good runs with that ///M of yours, I might just have to visit some friends of mine up there with my vette someday.

Who the heck is this guy??!! He is always smoking fast and we never know who he is.

Wonder if this is the same guy that's dropping the car in drive from the line at like 3500rpm. If so, this guy is a madman!!!

Are these your predictions? No. ///M engines come in very very tight, so this is in what my estimatives are based... And also in other 1/4mile M6 runs... Remember that during the first 3000 miles this engine is still during its break in period, and the more miles you put on it, the faster it gets... and that's a rule for high powered engines in case you don't know
I just noticed that Derek lives in USA, so he doesn't have the EURO LC, this definately means SLOWER times...

The increase comes from the ecu not the mechanical break in.

Please show me proof that the M5/6 engine has an ECU that increases the output of the engine after XX miles

Very simple take your car with under 2000 miles and read the factory ecu. Then re-read the same ecu after 2500+ miles. Do your on research newbie.

Really..LOL So at 3k the internals of the motor just up and add 30hp or so? How does it know how many hp's to "free" up,and when to start and stop the "freeing up" process?

I'll ask you to show me proof that my car has power limiting ECU for the first XX miles.

As for your other comment about the power gain not being mechanical, i guess you also got that one WRONG. The piston ring seal is really what the break in process is all about. As new rings are far from perfect and
they must be worn in quite a bit in order to completely seal all the way around the bore. With the gas pressure during the engine's first miles of operation, the entire ring will wear into the cylinder surface, sealing the
combustion pressure. Once the combustion chamber is absolutely sealed, the engine will produce more power.

Gas pressure? You think these motors come that tight from the factory?

derek- Even though you dont have the aewsome euro lc. If its the same as smgII. Use the burnout mode. (dsc off p500 sport I think it is. and floor it quickly) If you can do that. I get great launches using that with some ps2's. us lc sucks majorly. But its better then nothing. Have fun at the track!!
